I'm afraid to get into watercooling, but I'm pretty happy with how cool my case is considering it's cluttered with wires. Debating upping it to a Full tower but we'll see, thats 150$+ that I don't NEED to spend.

It needs some motherboard work, but I'll sell it if you want.

Don't go water cooling. It's not worth it unless you fit into one of a few groups:
    • Loves playing with computer parts and spending half a day to change out a video card.
    • Needs a silent computer
    • "Extreme" overclocker who is actually limited by temps but doesn't want to go to phase.

Watercooling is a hobby in and of itself. Not many cases were made with water cooling in mind, so you have to search for a special case or be handy with a dremel before you even worry about the cooling itself. I've messed around with it a little, but going all in and actually putting it into a working computer is a huge timesink. You could spend a week test fitting the build and testing for leaks..

The improvement isn't even that major. It'll allow you to bump your processor up a few notches for sure, but the work/reward ratio is shitty if you don't enjoy doing it in the first place.

To go with my desk I posted earlier, got my new rig setup yesterday:

    i7 920 @ 3.8 GHz
    6 GB DDR3 1600 MHz
    Asus P6T Deluxe v2
    4870 X2

So damn nice after my old budget PC, wasn't out of college when I made it so couldn't get decent parts

Indeed I do, it's nice to be able to play just about anything on high settings with AA/aniso turned on. The first game I'm going to run through is Mass Effect, I never did my renegade playthrough because I was waiting till I got a better PC. Mostly though I started to get annoyed by the limitations of the C2D processor I had. It couldn't even handle 1080p video decoding, now when I run a 1080p video it uses about 6% of the processor. That's not the only problem I was having but one of the more prevalent ones.

Your GPU is taking up the slack now. Anything using the x.264 codec should be running off the GPU.

Going clockwise in four pictures. It's getting very messy and pissing me off a bit.

That would make sense, I wonder if my previous GPU didn't support it or something as it seemed to be entirely in the processor (was an x1950 Pro).

Ty what's your temps like? I'm asking because it looks like your CPU cooler is turned the wrong way and it's blowing into the case instead of towards the rear exhaust.

With the i7 920 @ 3.8 I tend to hover around 63C load. It's not pointed the wrong way, there's a giant 140 mm fan directly above it (can't really see it I know) and both CPU fans are creating a tunnel out that fan.

63C under full load on like a 40% overclock i7 chip is not hot at all lol. Thats very manageable.

I know that everyone's test beds are different, but according to two different reviews of a group of i7 coolers I had found, 63C is cooler than the stock cooler keeps the processor at stock clock speeds, so I figure it can't be too bad. If it ever turns out to be a problem I can always step it down.

Just one of the ones I had read, my cooler is the bottom one.

I don't have an i7 so it seemed stupidly hot to me. But my case runs really cool.

Has nothing to do with the case. Has to do with overclocking and the temperature threshold of the processor.

    Specs:

    EVGA 680i SLI SE board
    E6850 CPU
    4 GB Supertalent 800mhz ram
    2x8800GT 512mb
    1x sony drd-rw drive
    1x LG BD/HD drive
    Coolermaster Stacker 830
    Corsair 620hx PSU
1xhd @ 320gb but about 4 externals always plugged in for a total of 4.1 tb of space

I use my setup to play Minesweeper & CS:S
