was gonna say, wtf 18 inch anywhere in there

i'm jelly all you multi-display; they all look great. I'm.. gonna cave and get that 2monitor happening soon. I'm too Beta-flaccid about my single screen to post current desk setup, PC with lone 24" IPS monitor and a big&bricky Asus G37 laptop for the infrequent 2-box session.

My wife and I are buying our first house together and I'll be setting up shop in the basement. I'm not sure what to do with it because of those walls, but that's real oak and I really don't know if I should paint, or if I should work around the walls. The door you see is to the utility area. There is another door on the opposite wall to the same area. If I was going to paint, I was thinking of going with a slate gray or lighter and getting black furniture. I plan to have my desktop sit on top of the desk and I really would like to hide all wires, especially the hdmi from the pc to the tv I will have down there as well. While this may seem overly nerdy, I think having the oak walls with a white pc would look terrible and that's why I'm considering painting. Plus, I really dislike wood walls. I was considering building my own desk using saw horses and getting a glass top and then frosting it, but I'm not very handy! We close on Wednesday and I can't wait to actually get into the house! Any suggestions are appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Basement pics aren't showing, but definitely don't paint the wood, there are a lot of things more creative that can be done with wood.

For whatever reason when I link it from bucket it's not showing up. Oh well. Yeah was talking with wifey about it today and she said too we shouldn't paint it. We plan to be in this house for only 4-7 years. As soon as we move I'll be rebuilding my personal rig and also one to sell. Can't wait to post pics!

Is that wood finished with any kind of stain, or is it sill raw?

I'm not sure to be honest. We're thinking of going with a very dark stain. I'd still like to get a desk with a glass top but all I find in stores are $200+. I plan to use Rust-oleum frosted glass treatment. Wednesday can't come soon enough!

Personally, I like to have it all on one screen. Patiently waiting for 4K monitor with displayport 1.3 and nivida 800 series (although supposedly top end cards can already push 60fps+ on ffxiv at 4K anyway)

Naw it's a cheap chair I bought 2 years ago, it's just normal wear and tear. Will probably buy a higher quality chair sooner rather than later.

Honestly not a bad idea. Sure Aerons are expensive but considering the time I spend behind the computer, it would be a very good investment.

Mine is going on 5 years I think. It was one of the best investments I've made for my computer/office period. It feels the same every time you sit in it, and after going through 50-128$ chairs on a yearly basis, it was worth the price.

That chair wear is Nothing. Add 4 years and more pealing, then, just then, you're getting closer to the realization that is My chair. There's a Bolt sticking out from the top.

You guys just might have me sold on that Aerons though damnit. That'll be my next purchase.

Our move is completed, but the basement, where I will eventually set up shop, needs work. I did transfer my components to the Thermaltake New Soprano case and added a few things and I love it so far. You wouldn't even know the pc is on it's so quiet! Below is a link of the build with some pics. We recently bought a 60" Plasma for the living room that I'll be gaming on once the new stand comes. I'll post updated pics then.
