Thread: Platform Poll

  1. #1

    Default Platform Poll

After reading new Windower thread, I got curious as to how many people play on which platform. Please post which platform/console/system/etc you're playing on.

I'm currently on my 3rd Xbox, most likely gonna buy FFXI on my laptop soon though.

Not going to be redundant. But yeah, PC.

    On PC right now.

Started PC, moved to PS2 on release, moved to Xbox 360 on release (better screen resolution than PS2), and then moved back to PC when I got my new Alienware.

Started on PS2, moved to PC (my laptop) once I borrowed the PC version from a friend of mine and haven't looked back since.

Something I've always wondered - how good is the reduced visual lag on the PS2? I know people who've played on PS2 and said the lack of slowdown in more crowded situations is brilliant, one even said "when I play on PC I feel like I'm playing in slow motion now".

I've played about 99.9% of my time on PC. I do own a copy for my XBOX360, and could never get used to using the controller (I know, get a usb keyboard, etc). It is nice playing on a huge flat screen I must say compared to a laptop, but I think PC still prevails.

Try playing FFXI on a 1ghz Celeron with 32mb PCI card. Then turn on all settings (Including high shadows with Weather effects on) & 640x480 resolution.

Add about a 16-25 FPS average, and the ability to not turn off shadows or weather effects (at all) and theres your amazing experience with the PS2 and FFXI.

Anyone that tells you different is trolling. I have a PS2 that gets used as a AFK mule all day. And thats about all it can do compared to the PC version imo.

I don't trust MMO-like stuff on consoles outside of maybe PSO (good times). I use PC which seems the most reliable.

Friend liked his console because he could use a control pad but I guess he never tried it on PC with one.
