This is exactly the idea that the idiots running corporate America don't understand. Shutting down sites like onemanga will do nothing to stop "piracy", just like shutting down Napster or Oink did nothing to stop things in the music worlds. What these corporations need to understand that this isn't the 1980's anymore, and being in a digital age means they need to adapt to current technologies instead of foolishly trying to hold onto the past.

Instead of just slapping C&D orders on these sites they need to learn from them: I'm willing to bet that if the publishers made a site where you had full access to a similarly vast catalog of high quality manga for a *reasonable* (another thing they don't understand) monthly fee, they would make a killing. Just look at how much money the iTunes store rakes in, and that's hindered by an unrealistic price point.

The progression of Copyright and IP Law over the past 20 years is sickening, and one of the worst things happening in the world today.

I'd pay 5-10 bucks a month for access to a high quality manga translation site if they had everything I've read, want to read, and even shit I don't want to read.

Most of the reason I buy manga legit is because I've read it online already and I enjoy it. Being able to try out a manga is great, because there's a lot of shit around and not every place gives you the luxury (nor would you always have the time) to read full volumes of stuff to see if it's good.

Added something that would make this statement true for me.

If they started making scan available online weekly (as in same week as the jp release, unpaid amateur scanlators can do it. I'm sure paid ones can as well) I would gladly pay for legal scans from the companies that own the rights to the manga. My major problem with their manga is that they censor and change things. The degree of censorship really depends on which series you're reading but sometimes they needlessly censor some absolutely ridiculous stuff. Other times they switch around or completely change word bubble contents which sometimes can change the entire feeling of a story.

Does anyone have an idea of a new place to find it since onemanga is going down? The scanlator's listed on there dont seem to have the series archived at all from a glance so far.

If you're willing to download the files, I have a couple of resources to suggest.

By chance you're familiar with IRC, I'd recommend #[email protected]. It's a channel devoted to archived manga. Their website is gotlurk.net which features a searchable packet list. Unfortunately, I can't access their site now to let you know if Alive is available or not.

I'd also suggest familiarizing yourself with http://www.mangaupdates.com. It's a regularly updated database of manga scanlations. You can usually find specific releases hosted at the various scanlation groups' websites. It's especially useful when several scanlation groups worked on different chapters of a manga.

[edit] I just checked out Alive at mangaupdates, and it looks like the story reached its conclusion in volume 21. However, it's been over 2 months since the last chapter (75) was scanlated. So if you were interested in new releases, it may be a while till a group picks it up again.

great chapter, everything is connecting between the index and railgun sides now. at least it explains why Accelerator went for the kill on the clone out of the blue in the index side.

Index+Railgun continuity, the art is different cause they are done by different artiest but you can see how the two events fit together ^^ b. I keep being impressed how Railgun is filling the blankets in the Index side and vise-verse.
