Bloody Monday starts off really good but it gets kind of repetitive after awhile. Everything is always a trap inside of a setup inside of a plan with a plot twist. Not on Death Note levels but annoying nonetheless.

A great ongoing series everyone should check out is Ubel Blatt. The art is wonderful and the story-line is fresh and original.

Not to contradict you here especially because I love Hajime no Ippo, but it has been shit awful bad lately. It's finally looking like it's coming out of it's slump, but it's hard to tell if that's true until Ippo has his next fight. Of course the earlier parts of the manga are great and I would highly recommend it even with the noticeable downturn it's taken lately.

Kenichi, The Breaker, Franken Fran, Vagabond, and Claymore are some of the few where I actively look forward to the next chapter.

Oh shit, how could I forget to mention Rurouni Kenshin. One of my top favorite mangas. And it's only 255 chapters. Definitely worth reading if you haven't yet.

Hmm, is the manga ending any different than the anime (or any other major changes to the story)? I might have to read it if it is.

The Manga is very good. read that first, The Story+Pacing doesn't drag Like Bleach and Naruto.

The TV series has no ending, it diverse after the Shishio Arc with fillers, but it's worth it a look. the OVA2 series that came a few years after was suppose to be the ending, but was done without the authors consent, and they gave the character a terrible ending than the happy satisfying one from the manga(The same level of satisfaction as the Full Metal Alchemist ending).

I highly recommend the First OVA series, it's one most awesome series you'll watch. great music and heartbreaking story line about Kenshin's past (The Arc is in the Manga).

    Here is the OVA Trailer
    Spoiler: show

Just an FYI - I wouldn't go by the seriousness of the Kenshin series via the OVA - the anime version is very full of humor and such initially. The OVA story is told after the Shishio Arc, in which the manga series goes much darker. I really wish they had finished animating the entire manga story, but sadly it got 2min of attention in the last OVA series. The rest of the anime series after Shishio was nothing but fillers.

Some people say to watch the series until the end of the Shishio Arc, then read the manga. Some say read and watch it all to get the best of everything. I feel you can watch the entire series, then read the last 1/3 of the manga (after the Shishio Arc).

Nobuhiro Watsuki stated himself he hated the OVA ending to Rurouni Kenshin/Samurai X.
    Spoiler: show
He said something like he was really unhappy with the script and thought Kenshin deserved a better ending then what he got after all the shit he went through.

I'd personally stick with the manga ending and leave it at that, I hated the OVA ending too.

If you're gonna watch the Kenshin OVAs then stick with Trust & Betrayal since those are about his time as Hitokiri Battousai. Fuck Reflection in the ass, such a terrible way to try and end things.

Well, sounds like I'm reading the manga then, didn't realize the anime was changed that much. x.x

The anime isn't that bad really. First season is decent, Second season is Awesome, third is meh filler. So it's definitely worth watching the first two.

Yeah, like what was already said, the anime's first 2 seasons follows the manga, but then after the Shishio arc it goes into filler only arcs(or arc? I dunno, I've never watched pass Shishio arc.) In the manga, after the Shishio arc, it goes into the 'Kenshin's past' arc which is mostly what you see in the first OVA. But of course, 'cause it's manga, it explains it in more depth and a lot better. Then after that is the final arc with the final fight.

I have the Kenshin series DVDs but never did see the OVAs. Is it just "Trust and Betrayal" and "Reflections" or is there a third+? Have torrents going for those two now.

It's just "Trust and Betrayal" and "Reflection." "Trust and Betrayal" explains the origin of the series and it's characters and "Reflection" being the crappy ending the original author had no part of in writing.

I bought Trust and Betrayal when they were two separate DVDs :/
and I always wanted a sequel to the series. With an older kenshin's son, yahiko and Soujiro wrecking up some shit.

Nice, I see they have the entire series of Slam Dunk.

Slam Dunk took me by surprise for being a 'sports' manga, but it hasn't exactly given me enough reason to check out other 'high school club' series like Prince of Tennis/Hikaru no Go, etc.
