hell, dont get a relic when your other slot sucks, or you dont even put in a basic effort to strengthen your jobs, and just hope a omgrelic will improve you dramatically is so wrong.........be it you chose the best relic choices like apoc or amano, your still going to hell.

Sadly that is just not true with horn. Naked bard with relic horn (and nq staves) would still be a force compared to decked out bard w/o relic just because of the nature of debuffs on brd. If it sticks it sticks. If it don't, adding 99999 skill/gear/macc wont make it. But giving the pld, rdm, and whm in your tank pt an extra 4 mp/tick sure adds up.

I wish gear mattered more for bard but it doesn't. Horn matters though. Matters a lot.

Looking for some info about Kikoku, preferably from multi-jobbers. How does it compare to some of the 2hander DD jobs? How potent is the Subtle Blow effect (enough to let you melee HNM with potent AoE)? Is there an undocumented secondary effect on Metsu, much like some of the other relic WSs?

I'm looking into getting one of the one-handed relics, need some opinions. Probably mandau or kikoku ;x

Kikoku 8/10 for me
1. I always dual box with my wife's WHM, so NIN is prolly good for me, and makes kikoku even better on me
2. Do not under estimate the subtle blow bonus when you fight NMs like salvage bosses or low manning melee-able mobs/NMs
3. the para is VERY potent and proc VERY often, 1 mob can be paralysed the entire fight, but whether he paralyze or not, thats luck
4. metsu is good for some NMs as far as i know even on byakko. i tank byakko with merit setup and deal 400-500 metsu(just one of the few i can highlight)
5. Good for me because my irl friend have mandau and we rape/tear anything thats not a NM in a SC
6. im a ninja fanatic
7. setback: you need to be a good ninja in terms of gears and skill before you should attempt to wield a kikoku.....the weapon itself wont make u super. its one of the upgrades to make urself one-up above the other ninjas. If you burn all ur gils and suck on other slots just for this weapon. BY ALL MEANS PLEASE DONT DO IT. because sath may come back and haunt you :\ this weapon have a rating of 5/10 on an average ninja.

Is there anyone who can give insight as to how it compares to well-built 2hander DDs? I know it is impossible for a very well geared ninja to be up to par with an equally well-geared geared sam, and other related 2-handers; but does Kikoku help to close that gap? or is the disparity in weapon-types far too wide? ;x

From what everybody makes it sound, ever since the two handed update, nothing nin can do will compare to an equally well geared 2h, especially Samurai. Kaiten is just too powerful on anything a NIN would actually be meleeing anyway.

I'm only missing the star ring, but I have very little desire to get one and the supply of them is very small. I had nothing else to purchase, and I was lucky enough to get 2 speed belts from KS99 in a very short span of time which paid for almost all of it, the rest of the Alexandrites were donated to me free by my LS to help me out (it was their own choice to do this).

I have very little desire to level anything else. I love WHM by heart, and I've enjoyed reading some of your posts regarding your opinion on Yagrush. You're obviously entitled to your own opinion, but I thought I'd let you know that I did not in fact have much of anything else to buy which is why I went ahead and went for this. I can also assure you that my others jobs are all very well geared, I didn't sell any of my equipment to fund this.

If you look at the screenshot of Carol (The other JP WHM who's close to finishing) you'll see that she also has full HQ blessed, along with roundel earring and I'm sure she needs next to nothing in terms of WHM gear. The other WHM in my LS who's about to finish Yagrush in about a week or two, has more HQ gear than even I do so he was in the same situation as me when he decided to start working on it.

You're free to argue that SCH can perform just as well, or that the upcoming Esuna spell will negate some of the usefulness of Yagrush. I won't deny that in a capable player, SCH or possibly Esuna might showcase enough performance to challenge Yagrush. But at the same time, a capable WHM with Yagrush will no doubt do very well and will exceed what SCH/Esuna can do. The bottom line for me, was that Yagrush was a huge upgrade for WHM and as I've stated earlier, there was nothing else for me to purchase to benefit the one job I play in FFXI the most.

So, what other jobs do you have at 75, then?

Kenji, what you're suggesting is stupid. I'm sorry to tell you this, but your argument is flawed. If a WHM could wear multiple items (Aka 5 Capes or w/e), then you might have a point, but the fact is that a few MP cannot outweigh what Yagrush offers. Yagrush is in itself a WHM update. It offers a unique, yet relevant ability that will be utilized often. For a WHM of his or her skill, what does 20MP have to offer? What does 2% Cure Potency have to offer? Some of the items you mentioned are important enough to precede Yagrush, but most of what you posted is simply "For show" gear in comparison to the benefits of Yagrush.

Furthermore, what is the point of asking if he or she has other 75s? It's his or her gil to spend. Not to mention, WHM is probably the best Mythic weapon to obtain considering how disappointing the other weapons have been. Even if that weren't the case, the original point still stands: It's Sai's gil. There's no argument beyond that point.

Dude that 5 mil could go to so much better use! A star saphire is not worth the 5mil because instead you could buy like 5000 echo drops. Whats worth more to you? never being silenced or having +1hmp. You could also use that 5mil to gear up smn and get clear mind 5, that would be a much better use of your gil. What other jobs do you have hmm? There's probably like 4 things you could buy that would improve those jobs that you might not use as often as whm. Also apocalypse is better than a ragnarok.

Any PLD worth their shit can do 99% of the shit in this game just as well with a Koenig Shield as they can with an Aegis. (the 1% being shit like soloing ODS and other retarded bullshit)

Any PLD worth their shit can NOT do beastly add effects to add to the already awesome aspect of PLD DD tanking.

Aegis is cool and all but it only changes your PLD drastically if you suck ass at PLD. Excalibur is pretty beast all around. Still wouldn't upgrade either.
