I live in BC and I've honestly never seen an entirely french copy of a game for sale, besides the manual always being in french/english. I think the only time I ever saw it was when it was on the same cd and you chose the language at the start screen.

Perhaps I'm not looking hard enough, but it's not as if you have a huge wall selection like you do in english. You probably wouldn't even be close to getting the games you want to anyways if you were french, so I don't understand what people are complaining about.

I bought an english game in a quebec walmart once and they only had an all of 4 games in english to choose from.

I don't really give a shit about this debate, because there is nothing I hate more than patriotism (and it's not limited to the one here), but why are you so surprised that people are taking the bait when other are insulting them on purpose and bring up innacurate statistics.

A lot of other threads that end up with shitty news about a location, generally people from the location (or near it) come into the threads and are more or less like "yeah, this place sucks", whereas Texas and Quebec (which, at least what I've noticed, people generally tend to dislike) have always had people who come in and defend their hometowns like they're some sort of godsends where nothing bad could ever come out of.

Well, it's quite stupid to make a law for this.
Many ( most) games are already translated in French, German, Spanish and other languages, and there is no delay at all. The editors know the public speaking these languages is happy to play games in their native languages, and they usually release all the different translations at the same time.

Also, don't forget most games are Japanese, and the English translation is not always the best one. Just look at FFXI... we often see people referring to French and German translations about patch notes. French and Germans versions of the game are available at the same time as English and Japanese versions as well.

It's totally stupid to make a law about this, just sell the fucking translated games and people that like translations will buy it.
However, gotta admitt the previous positions wasn't especially intelligent as well: since the game were already translated, why weren't these game just sold in translated version. It's not like it makes any difference when printing the dvds.

Update: While the Star article makes it seem as though this is banning video English language video games, the new law does not prohibit the sale of English-only video games. Rather, it asks of the publisher to make a french version available if and when it exists, which means Quebec's gamers will still be able to purchase the English version and do so at the same time as everyone else in the world.

Nothing new here. That's how human react when they feel attacked, especially when they are a minority.

The real question is: Is the hatred justified, or both side use retarded fallacy to hate each other? I would go with the later.
