Installing ffxi on the pc

I'm currently trying to install the game on my computer however when I go to pol and it prompts for update it shows an error of dome sort. I downloaded the vista compatibale download from the playonline site and it still repeats the problem. So I was wondering do I need to install the games first than try the pol update?

Run as admin? Try reinstalling.

I'm installing the games first now lol. I think that's why it showed the error because nothing was installed yet xp

Did you install the non-Vista version of POL first, then install the Vista POL over it?

If so, uninstall, and start fresh (using the Vista install only).
