I hope Scalia has a stroke or something next!
In before "obama is going to force us all to have abortions via the supreme court".
Will be interesting to see who he picks.
Supreme Court is serious business, even if they don't seem like a huge player in day to day life.
This is the primary reason I voted for him. Don't fuck this up, Barack.
I am expecting the first jewish, bicurious supreme court justice.
In before Leif and stereotypes.
ugh wish it was scalia
the guy uses 24 to convey his torture stance in layman's terms. joke justice
Unfortunately, Souter, Ginsberg and any of the other judges with a probability of leaving during at least 4 years (and maybe 8 ) are all already on the liberal/moderate side.
BO might get to make a few picks, but not likely ones that will change the outcomes and swing any 4-5's over to 5-4's.
Kinda hoping for this guy, even if he is right-leaning: John E. Jones III - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Wasn't Souter one of Clinton's appointments? I can't remember.
Have the Dem's ever picked a stealth conservative? Damn repub's don't seem to have a problem picking stealth libs.
Yeah Souter was a stealth pick - but then again no one really knew his leanings until he was on the bench, not even the Dems.
Bush 41's other nominees were Robert Bork (FAIL) and Clarence Thomas.
I guess it's just a numbers game on the 'stealth' appointees. Only two of the justices appointed in the last four decades were appointed by a Democrat. We need a larger sample size. :D
