They said they didn't do it because they would have had to dedicate some long scene of dialogue to explain the situation in the first place.

Ok I'm going to try to give show viewers a spoiler free version of what was left out of Tyrion and Jaime's meeting.

I will leave out the part that may still happen through other means, but still fair warning, there is potential that this would eventually come out somehow, and could be considered a spoiler.

Again, I'm trying not to spoil anything here, but just giving everyone fair warning since it could be considered spoilers.

Ok, so, remember the story about Tysha? Tyrion told it to Bronn and Shae when they played the drinking game:

Jaime and Tyrion came across her being attacked on a road; Jaime got rid of the men attacking her, while Tyrion gave her his cloak and took her somewhere safe. Tyrion and she fell in love, and got married. When Tywin found out, he made Jaime tell Tyrion the truth, that she was actually a whore and the whole thing was a setup; he then made Tyrion watch as she got banged by a whole bunch of guys and made Tyrion go last, and pay her double, because fucking a dwarf was worth twice as much.

So... again, not an actual spoiler at this point, but just making sure one last time: read this only if you want to know the big thing that was left out of the escape.

When Jaime is helping Tyrion escape he tells him the truth...

Tysha wasn't actually a whore. Tywin was just pissed because Tyrion married a lowborn girl and forced Jaime to lie about it and say she was a whore.

Tyrion says some bad shit to Jaime, including claiming that he did actually kill Joffrey, and they leave on bad terms.

That's why Tyrion is going to kill his dad, and Tyrion's anger is much more legitimate when Tywin is calling Tysha a whore instead of, you know, an actual whore.

He killed Shae cuz he was fucking pissed in the books, not cuz she pulled a damn knife.

And then in the privy, the conversation basically ends with

Where is Tysha?
Who?
My Wife.
Oh. The whore.
Say that word again... Where is she?
Wherever whores go.

Just in regards to that topic:

I have no idea what to expect in season 5 as far as the story (have yet to read the books), nor do I want anything big spoiled, but that seems odd to me. Bran's story finally hit the climax its been building up to across 2-3+ or so seasons, and it's just going to leave off at that? Bummer.

I guess that would seem to mean any of three things...
1. Bran's story from this point forward gets more complicated than they can dedicate time to in season 5.
2. Bran's story from this point forward is relatively minor and not worth the effort.
3. Everyone else's story has far more going on that is more important (or deemed so for the TV show) and will be hogging up screen time.

Probably a combo of #1 and #3.... though again I'm totally guessing.

Personally, while his story hasn't been my favorite through most of the seasons, I felt like it was just getting interesting.
