Can't get excited. I got excited about the potential when I made this thread in 2009. But I want to be excited
Deadpool to go into production in 2012
X-MEN spin-off Deadpool is likely to go into production in 2012 with Ryan Reynolds still attached to star in the project, The Geek Files has learned.
In what is exciting news for X-Men fans, those involved with the 20th Century Fox project are hopeful that Deadpool will film this year. In addition, we've heard that Hugh Jackman's second solo mutant adventure, The Wolverine, will definitely go into production in 2012.
Real question now is if its still rated R
Pretty much Odesseiron... Since Fox is attached, our chances of it being a R-rated film will go to the shitter.

Oh dear god.... shudders
To be fair, at least Fox would have the balls to make it rated R. I don't think Marvel Studios would with Disney looking over their shoulders.
Ryan Reynolds was excellent as Deadpool in the Wolverine movie's beginning. If they can stick to that aspect I'm still hopeful for something decent :/
Ryan Reynolds is also a huge fan of the comic book. When they initially stated the movie would be made Reynolds went on record saying it would be like the comic book. If it ends up like that then it will be fantastic.

Little news is better than no news.
That at least gives me hope.
fuck yes
That didn't sound like any kind of confirmation to me. Just Reynolds saying that if they make a Deadpool movie and it's not Rated R then it'll suck.
He talks about the rated R bits so much it might be "no R = no me."
And there are many a studio that would rather replace Reynolds than make it rated R
I think Fox is still wary about messing with the source material too much after how X3 and Wolverine nearly killed the franchise. First Class was fantastic and didn't draw as well as it could have because of X3 and Wolverine.
http://geektyrant.com/news/2012/10/1...ool-movie.htmlIt's been a long time since we've heard anything on FOX's Deadpool film project, and that's because nothing is really happening with it right now. Apparently the studio is just kind of sitting on it, letting it collect dust. The director attached to Deadpool is Tim Miller and he's part of the Goon Kickstarter campaign. He recently answered some questions in the comment section of the Kickstarter regarding Deadpool, and here's what he had to say,
We've turned in an amazing script and done some early tests and visual development that--I'm confident--would get the fans stoked. And Ryan still loves the project. So it's really up to Fox as to whether or not the film happens--all I can do is hope (and beg periodically) that it be allowed to move ahead.

Studio sitting on a comic franchise?
