Moblin Maze Mongers Delve Deeper Into Your Heart! (06/26/2009)

Not content to rest on their laurels as the foremost—and only—purveyors of custom dungeons in Vana'diel, the Moblin Maze Mongers have been working overtime on their latest Maze Voucher that will usher in a whole new subterranean adventure in the upcoming version update!

    My Gobbie and I

With the new Maze Voucher, players will be able to participate in a new challenge in which they and a Goblin companion must maneuver their way through a maze teeming with fiendish foes. In order for your operation to be deemed a success, your comrade must survive the journey intact.

    The Power of Gob

Have no fear, for this Goblin is no defenseless dunce! By defeating enemies that lurk in the maze, your companion will gain strength and grow into a formidable ally. Defend him from harm, but take care not to be overprotective—slay too many foes yourself, and you will find your Gobbie's growth as an adventurer stunted.

    Gob of All Trades

Your Goblin companion will begin the quest with the "All-Rounder" job—well-balanced in a variety of skills, but master of none. By reaching Level 5 and fulfilling certain conditions, he will be eligible to switch to a more specialized position.

The career choices available to your Gobbie include the close-combat specialist "Walloper," the ranged attack marksman "Barrager," and the magic-wielding "Spellslinger." Each specialized job also comes with unique abilities, which your Goblin will unleash when the requisite conditions are met.

If you and your Goblin apprentice succeed in your mission, you can expect a whole slew of lavish rewards, including MMM's inaugural augmented items, special maze runes to customize your Gobbie's abilities, and much, much more!
Cool we get our own Gobby NPC now. =)

Obviously you'll be able to cap it within 30 min, or it'd be pointless. At the start of any given run, your gob will be level 1. By the end, if you succeed, it should be level 5 (or whatever higher level you can manage in 30 min), I assume.

Then tomorrow, should you decide to do this run again, you'll start over with a level 1 goblin again. It's not like a fellow that you're building up over multiple sessions.

Here's an idea if they want people to bother with MMM again, how about they try ungimping marble rewards? Runs that would give 35 marbles in the past now give 5 or 6 marbles- even runs with XP mobs have wretched marble drops. Here is a crazy idea that I bet that Square never considered before- if you want people to participate in content, maybe they stop punishing us for doing so.

    I know, crazy talk.

Somewhere, someone is trying to hate me to death for my crusade of trying to convince everyone that AV is defeatable.

MMM was actually fairly fun and rewarding before they wrecked up the place in the last update. There are some very good weapons and armors that you can only get there- and it is nice to get off of the end-game treadmill once in a while. (Not to mention that some of the HNMs in MMM are potentially stronger than quite a few of the HNMs wandering around Vana'diel.) It would be nice if the player base would open up their minds and try something different instead of blanketly disregarding new content becuase it isn't "hard core" enough for them. (And only people who never fought Kuno's rabbit destroyer of worlds would say that MMM isn't hard core.)

It would also be nice if Square didn't decide to wreck everything that is even slightly enjoyable in this game to make it as terrible as farming Dynamis or camping HNMs. But I digress.

I don't think that they'd put info like partially taking back the MMM nerf to an update teaser.. So it's still possible to happen.

I hope that doesn't imply Nimble Nelson. I was thinking of grabbing a Gnole Torque sometime, if he's not too hard.

Would this count as solo content? Otherwise it might be something rather fun to do. Or would it be a potential party of 6 + 6 NPC gobs.

It's still possible to get the same marbles as before, just not with the same Voucher. The most we could get before the update was 46 in a run, and Gergall has shown it's still possible in the MMM thread with Voucher 06. The only difference is you can't go and abuse it by bringing in a level 1, however it's still soloable, but more challenging.

I do agree however that the update has made exping with Voucher 1 not worth the marbles. Perhaps they need to add some kind of marble madness rune that would add 1 marble per 250 exp, so not only can you get some decent exp, but some decent marble rewards too and it's wholely dependent on your groups skill rather than having access to a level 1 char.

I am interested in the augmented items, as ones from places other than Fields of Valor often come with very 'powerful' augments.

I imagine it would be like the escort quests (Crawler's Nest, Garlaige, Eldieme) - 1 gob and up to 6 people.
