Linkshells like apathy must be excited to hear these news. We heard this news already from another SE person, but now we heard it again from this SE guy.
If the monster is hard to the level of PW, then that is good. Good linkshells and RPG players deserve to push their limits greater and greater.
PW is the perfect amount of difficulty and helps make lots of gil for people who want to live the dream or getting a relic weapon or new cool gear.
AV on the other hand, is too difficult and needs his meteor toned down just a little bit or release barlight and more light resistant gear.
Bah, Asura would have been a better choice for a final boss. But, I'd bet they didn't want to create a unique model for a fight that few would even participate in. So, they just recolored the chair guy.

Attacks fast, can "rage" or change forms using its SSJ move (Andrenaline?), attacks everyone (Grand Slash), need to break armor/hat to see HP, etc
I always loved this series of monsters. FFX's one had them looking very high tech which I feel doesn't fit well into FFXI's world, so I picked up 7's image instead.
FF8 ones looked better

The Giants with the funky viking helmets are pretty awesome but a true metallic (or living armor) Iron Giant is one of the few FF staple monsters that has not made the XI cut.
If they are coming, the northlands would be the place for 'em.
Keep thinking that. No AV strat will ever be perfect and if you find one that is they'll nerf it. Bosses like AV and PW were not meant to be killed on a regular basis. They're trophy kills. I recall SE saying they never meant for SE to reach a "farmable" level but I haven't been able to find the interview.
The real question becomes whether gear improvements and player determination will overcome eventual player loss and lack of interest. Since SE seems to only want to allow the 'correct way' of killing AV, I would assume any other potential strats found might become just as useless as the KC style zerging strat.
No they will not nerf it, and I don't mean a strat any ls goes into AV and kills with. We have killed PW 6 times now, where is the nerf to our strat on that? They were meant to be killed every time the best skilled/geared players choose to fight them, you are mistaken; they were not designed with the thought that no matter how well geared or skilled, players have a 15% chance of winning, no.
The systems for popping the NMs are completely different and you can't deny that. You can't just say "we're going to farm 3 PW sets this week" and go do it like you can with AV. The system in place for popping PW is already a safeguard against LSes farming it once a repeatable strat is found.

No doubt you don't have endless pop sets, but that doesn't mean you couldn't endlessly kill if you did, because you could.
I will say AV will be much harder to kill consistently tho.
