Hi guys. Still not a World of Warcraft movie.
so how soon until a starcraft and diablo movie(s)?
Could actually be a really smart move on their part.
Illidan is down, Arthas will be soon as well. We've fought both Archimonde and Kil'Jaeden, and by the time this comes out, Azshara will be lined up. Who's left? Sargeras? Other Aspects? The list is getting thin.
The idea people are saying here is that there's plenty of stuff to work off, and a movie based on WC3 could be decent, but that's not the only thing they could do. A movie gives them a chance to move AHEAD on the story, rather than back (or current), introduce new characters to a pretty wide audience, and set the stage for more expansions. It seems like whichever way they go, unless it's way into the past (WC1 or WC2 or earlier) would work in their favor.
if they botch the movie, then that is more people using their free time to play things that are really cool-
Like arpeggios !
http://geektyrant.com/news/2012/8/3/...eenwriter.htmlUnfortunately, Sam Raimi is no longer directing the big screen adaptation of World of Warcraft, but Legendary Entertainment is still excited about bringing Blizzard Entertainment's epic video game to the big screen. The studio just hired The Seventh Son and Blood Diamond scribe Charles Leavitt to write a new draft of the script.
According to Variety, Legendary loved Leavitt's take on the fantasy tale. This is getting the ball rolling again on the project and the studio is going on the hunt for a new director to take over the empty spot left by Raimi. Raimi had to drop out of the project so that he could commit himself to Disney's OZ: The Great and Powerful. Hopefully they can bring on another top notch director to take on the challenge of bringing this world to life.
Blizzard-chief Bobby Kotick had this to say in a statement, " If it's important to Blizzard it's important to me. They're very excited about having a World of Warcraft film. They've been very careful and thoughtful about the development process." He went on to praise Legendary on their approach to the property.
If everything moves forward with this movie smoothly we could see a WOW movie sometime in 2014!

holy necrobump batman!
If it's unreleased & on-topic, it's not a necro. Thanks for trying, though.
by the time they get this movie out, no one will be playing the game
If it's anything like World of Whorecraft then I'll give it at least 1 2-3 minute watch.
Necrobump ... but hey rather than start a new topic:

Duncan Jones is making the jump to big-budget tentpole movies, signing on to direct Warcraft, Legendary Pictures’ live-action adaptation of Blizzard Entertainment’s video game universe.

Taking an almost kitchen-sink approach to fantasy, Warcraft, which has grown to be one of the most popular multiplayer online role-playing games out there, is part fantasy, part science fiction and — depending on the game you’re playing — includes elements such as dragons and orcs, zombies and werewolves, and aliens and spaceships.
Legendary is keeping its script, written by Charles Leavitt, under wraps. The Warner Bros.-based production and finance outfit is eyeing a fall 2013 start and a 2015 release.
Jones’ producing partner, Stuart Fenegan, will executive produce while Chris Metzen will co-produce for Blizzard.
Warcraft is a big jump up in terms of scope and scale for Jones, the filmmaker son of David Bowie known for his thoughtful sci-fi work.
Jones (CAA, Independent Talent Group, Bloom Hergott) made his feature debut writing and directing 2009's Moon, the well-regarded low-key indie sci-fi drama that starred Sam Rockwell and cost about $1 million to make. He followed that up with Source Code, Summit’s 2011 time-travel thriller that starred Jake Gyllenhaal and cost about $35 million to make. Warcraft is expected to have a budget north of $100 million.
Roven most recently produced The Dark Knight Rises and is a producer on Man of Steel, both of which involved Legendary. Atlas is in pre-production on David O. Russell’s follow-up to Silver Linings Playbook, an untitled project that will star Bale, Bradley Cooper, Amy Adams and Jeremy Renner. Production begins this March.
Legendary is prepping for the July 12 release of Guillermo del Toro’s monsters vs. mechas tentpole Pacific Rim.

Moon was a great flick, but it's hard to think of anything more dissimilar than a movie about the Warcraft franchise. Never saw Source Code.
Seems like they have a decent set of people on it, but there have been too many horrible vidya-movies for me to be particularly hopeful about this one.
lol why are those celebrities names highlighted? they wont have anything to do with this movie.
They were highlighted in the article, I only pasted it

Googling Moon and Source Code right now, both films are only 90~ minutes long. But they seem kind of cool, gonna go see if I can watch them anywhere.
For WoW it deserves to be an epic of 2-3 hours as there is easily enough material to cover that, however would it be compelling enough to turn it that long is another question.
I would prefer a more stealth serious parody approach for WoW instead of a "very serious" movie.
It'd be cool if they got 25 people and entered some castle at the end of the film though and fight maybe 2 bad guys then the main bad guy haha
