That is the whole issue that is being missed.

Saying that you want jumping is like saying that THF in FFXI should get Stealth because it works well for Rogues in WoW.

It's simply retarded. It shows a complete lack of understanding of game play design or even simple logical deduction.

I think people want jumping because if you look at a tiny little ledge or stair you think to yourself, "Hey. I should be able to jump that!" It's all well and good that it's the games design to make you go around - so an easy compromise would be to make the ledge really big. If you look at a 6 foot ledge, you don't assume you should be able to jump it and we don't run into this problem of wanting to jump.

Edit: Also, if you guys would stop quoting people who post kanji the forums would stop breaking! D=

In my time playing this game, the only time I can say I've used 10 or more different macros during any single activity would be while playing SCH, and that's usually while healing/buffing. Nuking is generally spamming Parsimony and maybe 4 other spells. Jobs, playstyles, and situations differ (obviously), but the point is this is this problem is a little overblown.

FFXIV isn't FFXI, odds are everything will be balanced so you only need so many spells at one time. Even if it isn't, which is likely, the macro system and whatever other things they add could make up for it. Each weapon might have its own action bar, thus saving the skills and macros attached to it.

I hope they allow innate Japanese input for the North American and European versions this time. While the auto-translate system was... interesting to use, and typing in romaji is possible, those of us who are able to communicate in Japanese should be able to do so if desired.

I might import the JP version and just play both versions...

    that last pic looked like a pup attachment, but since its next to the mob pics, im assuming its something we'd end up fighting anyway <_>;

BRD uses way more than 10 macros I know that much from personal experience... I used 20 macros regularly for EXP parties.

And what exactly is wrong with it? That's pretty much the entire reason people are REQUESTING the jumping ability. I don't see what's wrong with just making a ledge larger so the player doesn't assume they can get over it - or they could if they could just jump.

You missed the whole entire point of my post. Same as the guy nerd raging before. I don't care if there's jumping or not. It was a comment on why jumping works, and why it's included in many of the games on the market. I said that FFXI is not the type of game that supports frantic gameplay.

The current FFXI gameplay doesn't force you to think in 3-D and react to the environment, they force you to react to the mob you're currently fighting. WoW forces you to react to the environment, and less so to mob abilites, since you know when mob x is going to use ability y. Which is why jumping works in its design, not FFXI's.

Goddamn, people getting really butthurt over jumping kinda makes me sad.

    LoL @ nerd raging....

I'm really impressed with all the info revealed in the span of 2 days and the event is 5 freakin days long ::NEEDZ MOAR INFO:: /drool
I imagine the site will be updated with the new character pictures soon.
    I also read dildos lmao.

As for the game mechanics, I like how Tanaka said that you have to choose each individual command before you attack, every time you attack left/right hand. While it is at first intimidating to me to have so many choices, I look forward to the versatility and engaging battles.

I also don't really care if there's jumping or not, I'm just trying to show some people why others MAY want the ability to jump and how it could be easily avoided.

I don't see why people are so adamant about jumping vs not being able to jump, lol.

Attohwa Chasm is for sure the one zone I wanted the ability to jump the most. Especially on or around Parradamo Tor.
