Ramparts cause intimidation because their "job" is BST, and thus they have the Killer effects to do so.

A single BLU doing this won't be able to hold them.
Most of those spells either have horribly long casting time (Ice Break), extremely short radius (Mysterious Light), conal range which means you WON'T hit all lamps (Magnetite Cloud) or a combination of all of this (lolBad Breath).
Not to mention that those spells' added effects are not 100%.

Jettatura is unreliable and has a long recast, Blastbomb is ok but its Bind duration is usually pretty short.

The only advantage BLU has over SCH is that these spells have short recast timers compared to Manifestation-Bind/Gravity. An advantage that is negated when you're forced to use more than a BLU.

Bloodtanking seems a more realistic option as a BLU than trying to land those bind/gravity spells.

I had a blast in this fight, and as many already pointed out I cannot wait till we do this again, so please if you have the T4 pops we need, we would deeply apreciate it!

Also just a short note for /drg high jump without relic pants wont shed 50% hate but other than that I am inclined to agree with rangers first and DD/sam second as Therin posted.

Windows movie maker is retarded, Ill try and put the vids together again tonightII work today), or at a minimum post the frames that show the lamps depopping when we killed medusa.

As to the question on the previous page:

The lamps depopped when medusa died, and repopped as skulls ontop of PW (same as always) at the ???. They didnt have any hate on the lamps party until the plds acted on them again.

could be similar to those apollyon zones where the boss is stronger until weakened by killing the other smaller mobs (each smaller mob/lamp could weakened the PW form gradually)

just something to maybe watch out for when you try what looks to be your new strat

Its not like that for PW from what i could tell. AoE's at the start of the fight were hitting just as hard as the AoE's at 5% when all the lamps were killed.

    HEALER ----------------- TANK ---- MOB

Oh, and those little fucking things sticking out of the ground like to give random "You can not see Neosutra" errors. Next time we do this we should really just stand like this:

PW Support Group --------------- PW Tanks and DD --------------------------------Lamps alliance

Then we don't have to deal with that fucking hill and the fucking things sticking out of the ground.

I'm aware of the difficulties of casting these, which I why I recommended using them in conjunction with tanking. If you have the gear to land the effects of these spells and tank, the duration is more for cure space and running distance than to actually "Hold" them.

Sounds like 35+ people, They are on Medusa now about 30 minutes into it. LS says its been a hectic fight so far. Killing lamps with BLMs and using BLMs to DD PW I hear. Gonna head down there now.

Ok, alot more then 35 people. Looks like about 15 BLMs, and lots of SAMs and DRKs. 90 in Zone, most seem to be in the LS thats fighting. They just started damaging Hydra form after a recovery... Using BLMs to DD atm.

Switched to RNGs, bringing Hydra Form down at a decent speed

    Hydra down.

Lamps seem to be their biggest time drain. They are pulling them with a seperate alliance no /help. Takes them about 5 minutes to kill all the lamps with lots of deaths, then they recover and fight. On Khim now.

Khim wipe at 59%, just after lamps died. They are recovering now.

Final Form about 24 minutes and instant wipe... looked planned. Zombie-ing now with Cannonballs. Only 2 BLUs though, should be about recovered. Also PW does have regen, just fairly weak and seems limited. BLUs are cannonballing for 500-1400 and dropping it 1% which it almost immediately recovers but does not go past that 1% recover.

Just pulled lamps away with Hermes Quenchers, they going Zerg mode now with SAMS and RNGs Skillchaining and Heavy MBs. 1 3step skillchain + MBs from about 8 BLMs did 8%.

88% and out of time, he regens about 1%/minute. Gonna depop soon. Lamps just overwhelmed them on final form, couldn't stay alive passed 2 Skillchains.

and depop, lowest it got to was 86%.

For lamps on other forms it looked like they had 2 alliances each pulling a seperate lamp and using both BLMs and Melees to drop them, but they died too slow that way and seemed to eat way too much time. Took almost as much time to kill lamps as to take down forms, plus a few wipes directly after lamps would die.

They were Pulling lamps off of final form and attempting to flee them away but lamps didn't even make it to edge of room before they would turn around and head back to main alliance. They spread out a little too much when they were trying to wipe as well and had him running a long distance to finish off others, eating up just a little more time then needed.

Weird they still decided to kill the lamps. And they should know by now that they cant pull the lamps too far away else they will ignore the puller. Any lamps puller for the last form needs to keep them in range but occupied (couple different people kiting around). As for last form damage, not sure why they would pick magic damage as the main source either..

Oh, and video is compressed, uploading to a site atm, will post when done.

I did pass the lamp info onto him, but Allesandra (the leader) had been preparing this fight for a long time, I don't think he wanted to go through the pains of revising the strategy and then re-educating all of the people helping how they would be handling things. Perhaps next time, though.

Also, while they were killing lamps, they weren't holding PW until lamps were dead; in one of the forms some lamps were still up when they killed PW.

Some of the information posted by the observer, ByeByeTaisai, is not correct.

    Our setup was:

    First 10 Forms Lamps:
    - BLMx5 allianced with a party of PLD/drk, PLD/rdm, WHM, RDM, BLU
(PLD/drk poisonga lamps + LR/SE etc. and BLM x5 timed nuked the lamp claimed to PLD/drk then nuke another)
    - 2 Alliances of melee parties w/ healers (each alliance had about 10-11 people)
(Each alliance pulled their own lamps, 1 at a time, off the PLD/drk)

    First 10 Forms PW:
    - PLD x2, BRD x2, WHM, RDM
    - RNG x4, COR, SCH/drk PT
    - RNG x2, SAM x2, COR, SCH/drk PT
    - 3 outside WHM healing PLDs & 3 PLD rotations

    Final Form PW:
    - 2 Zerg alliances (15 melee, 3 brd, 3 whm each zerg alliance)
(6 song rotation, brd drop, whm replace brd)
    - 2 Lamp Kite Groups (Solo PLDs, BLM, SCH, RDM)
(Hermes Quencher + Flash/Bio 1 lamp and kite as long as possible during zerg)
    - Solo BLU's to Cannonball on PW while zerg alliances prepared

We had around 55 people for the fight. (Thanks Paragon-LS/ExitOnly-LS/&Friends)

And yes, Neo's post about super-tanking the lamps was 3 days before we planned to pop PW. I did not want to revise our strat at the last minute. We may consider that super-tank option next time. However, I still think it's very hard for a super-tank PLD to survive 8 lamps attacking them when Sentinel goes down, let alone the lamps that cast magic. Plus, the fact that hate does not follow standard rules - I'm still not convinced that the PLD super-tanking would not randomly lose hate and the lamps return to attacking PW tanks, even if that super-tank never moved outside of the hate range.

    Lessons Learned:
    - You need a ton of healing support for main tank party and DD (We did not have enough)
    - Black Mages suck on Hydra (It's NOT Tinnin), SAM and RNG worked best
    - Khimaira can Fulmination above 50% (He used it at 59% on us, maybe starts at 60%)
    - Don't under-estimate the First 10 Forms Lamps pwnability

It was our first attempt and resulted in final form to 86% before time ran out. Everyone had a fun time today, we learned a lot, and there was 0 drama at camp. The people watching were helpful and did not spam /shout or mess with unclaimed PW. Thanks Unicorn server for being cool ^^

Best of luck to those attempting PW in the future.

    -Alle
