If i don't like PVP can i still have fun in the game?
or PVP rules and it might not be the game for me
If you don't like PvP because FFXI didn't have any then reconsider, if your basing it off of not liking PvP from doing it before then WoW may be a better game for you.
This game is a PvP focus and playing it for its PvE content is like buying a car just for the air freshener.
i didn't like PVP in general because, when i do PVP i always end up that everyone gather to kill me first![]()
Totally psyched for this game now. Anyone play a Cleric and can give general feel on how it is? Is it standard healing fare? Is mace and shield worthless or can you actually solo decently?
Well i just called Ebgames (gamestop in quebec) and they said it's too late to get the preorder bonus
/cry
order it online from ncsoft
Anyone succeful able to install/play it on a 64bit system?
when i tried yesterday my PC jammed when i opened the setup.exe.
I'll retry after work to see
I've played the chinese aion on xp64, vista64 home premium, and vista64 ultimate. Haven't finished downloading the full obt installer yet. OS isn't usually the problem, antivirus stuff does not play well with shitastic gameguard.
This has probably been asked already but since we're getting closer to NA launch and open beta week how is the crafting? Is it needed or not at endgame like sometimes craftable gear is better than instance/raid drops like in wow etc? I'm not much of a crafter myself but if some of the good armor and weapons come from crafting in this too I'll try and go one.
Normal crafted gear will be better than normal stuff from NPC.
Normal crit crafted gears will be around or better than green drops.
HQ ("Worthy") crafted gear will be better than greens and I think around the blue drops.
HQ crit crafted gear is around the level of gold's I believe?
There's also expert gear that you can craft after you max a craft which is as good as gold I think?
(Not too sure about the 2 last parts)
I don't really have an comparison when it comes to Abyss or Raiding gear.
Generally it's not better/worse than any other gear. I think it's more a matter of choice how you want to get our gear.
I have the same error since i installed the Chinese, so i'll check more later but
There is a Gameguard bug with windows 7 64bits, and this is what i did to fix it to play chinese client
Fix for GameGuard on Windows 7 | Forgotten Ramblings
Healer is fun, albit a little simple during the "leveling" aspects. Your dps skills are very limited, so you will be spamming 1-3 abilities 90% of the time until 30+ (and after 30 your not looking at much of a difference). DPS stuff does scale well, so you won't be struggling to kill stuff like in other games that give you healing skills but let your dps skills suffer. You also get very simple "chains" compared to all the other classes... not nearly as much growth that other classes see.
Though... group quests / instances / pvp you will have a lot of fun (I did / do) and this is where Cleric will shine. Healing for group stuff is often frantic and will remind you of FFXI healing. You get refresh of sorts, but it drains your hp significantly while in effect (so you have to balance it - and it can kill you).
Cleric is a strong solo class. You don't get all the snare's / roots other classes do, so your a meat shield while you kill stuff. Only thing I have heard is that Chanter is a better group healer at end game because they get a pretty OP AoE heal. I don't know if this has been changed / balanced in 1.5, and there will always be a place for a cleric, but I look at it like the WHM vs RDM debate that is seen in every game to some degree.
Chanter though isn't a healer and I would look at it more like how a SMN heals in FFXI. There are certain lv's are you a powerful / good healer, but your heals don't scale well enough to allow you to main heal in the long run (you are a great support healer / dps though). Again, this may change w/ that AoE heal Chanters get, I just haven't seen it in action to comment on
Thanks for the info, Katlan.
I am going to disagree...There's no monk
Chanter is a monk but with a staff.
Chanter in this game is like a MNK/DNC using a kirins pole and kicking ass like it was H2H.
As far as the chanter vs cleric and templar vs gladiator debate is concerned its like this...
Chanter is meant to be the spot healer and gladiator spot tank, they can heal/tank almost any situation just as well as the other but when you get to the fortress boss, endgame HNM's, and endgame instances, thats when you need cleric and templars bar none.
Until then chanter/gladiator can work, not as well as say one of the pures but can do in a pinch.
Anyone know if you can swap the image from 1 armor class to another? Like Leather image onto Chain or Plate. I know we can do it from the same class, but curious on this.
