Also, general Stigma Build thread, I assume.

Pretty sure for Templar in PVP I'm rolling with this build.

Now I have something to waste my time with while I'm at work.

I'll probably be going for this: Terhix' Stigma Calculator - Cleric

Purifying Wave seems a bit excessive and requires two crap skills, whereas all of the skills in the Noble Strength tree seem good. The only stigmas I want that this wouldn't let me equip are Blinding Light and Festering Wound, but I think Pain Link and Noble Strength more than make up for it (especially if Pain Link is unpottable)

Ugh, glad I'm not the only one who has this feeling.

Friends of mine who are Templars are swearing by that Advanced stun stigma, but I can't bring myself to get it just because of Ankle Blow. Q_Q

Don't bother slotting Punishment of Light/Darkness, last I checked, it is changed to a Skill Book iirc.

Yea I just saw that in Aionsources armory thing. Probably going to drop that for that 4 person taunt+fear move.

I just got really depressed looking at that, I didn't know Cyclone of Wrath was a stigma... QQ

This is probably the SM build I'd be running for PvP.

Wow the new 1.5 translations on aionarmory have changed a lot of those stigma names. Leb, you see the thread in AS>templars about mace vs. sword and the mind blast/magic smash/rage of destruction? Looked interesting. Would be awesome if its justifiable to have multiple templar builds that are viable, unlike how pld was for the first 4 years or so... Oh the days of Estaff or bust...

I really wish they'd stop renaming skills; its getting annoying to have to learn their names. Plus, some of the new names are really stupid.

How about they fix all the incorrect tooltips instead of renaming shit?

Ignite Ether, Magic Reverse, Infernal Pain, what the fuck is this shit?

Body Root still doesn't say what it actually does either heh. I agree with Pooky.

I wish there was a way you could set two different sets of Stigmas, one for PvE and one for PvP, alot of the Spiritmaster Stigmas are good for PvP, but a lot of them would be great for boosting pet damage and your damage in PvE. But having to buy tons of stigmas and getting teh shards to go with them just seems like a huge pita.

Although I agree I think it will keep the stigma market busy depending on availability of them.

Also this game doesn't have the hardcore PvE like WoW so I don't see having only pvp stigmas breaking your DPS and on top of that most of the PvE like world bosses/HNM and PvPvE instance you will need your PvP skills for them as well.

PvE in WoW isn't hardcore, and I'd be happy to not see any content in Aion to be like it, which is why I didn't bring it up.

Point is, I was just saying that it would be nice to be able to have different sets to do different things. If instances like Dark Poeta are any indication of what's coming in the future, there will be pure PvE content where it would be useful. Just judging by the way fear works from my experience, I highly doubt we'll be using it in most PvE situations just because of the risk it entails, so Stigmas like Fear Shriek would be better replaced by some of the other Stigmas.

I said nothing about "breaking DPS" or anything of the sort. Just looking at Spiritmaster Stigmas there are some that would be great for PvE DPS that will probably never see use because of the mostly PvP orientation of end game, but if the trend continues with instances like Dark Poeta being introduced, it would be nice to be able to change between them, that's all.

Yes it would be nice to have them interchangeable but I like the idea of one set so you have to choose carefully and strategically instead of slapping your PvE ones in one set and your PvP ones in the other and calling it a night. It makes it feel too much like WoW but maybe I am just biased.

I would beg to differ as there is hardcore PvE and anyone who has done pre-nerf Muru can tell you. I agree however that there should be no PvE only content like it tho.

Yes maybe you are biased. There is nothing careful or strategic about picking Stigmas, as much as you would like to think so. There doesn't seem to be much consideration for some classes what stigmas you will be using and which ones you won't. There is room to be different and to try and fool people, but in the end for PvP there will be stigmas you will use because they are better, and stigmas you won't use because they are not worth it. At least if you could swap, some of them would see some use outside of making you an absolute gimp if you use them.

It's not much different from WoW in it's current state. If you're a Warlock in WoW and you want to do Arena you go Affliction. If you're a Warrior you go arms. If you're a Spiritmaster in Aion for PvP you take the Infernal Pain line. What's the difference?

There is no Hardcore PvE in WoW. You're talking to someone who did AQ40, Naxx 40, Pre-nerf Kael'thas, Pre-nerf Black Temple, Pre-nerf Sunwell, Cleared Ulduar of hardmodes, etc. The age of hardcore PvE is pretty much at an end, it doesn't exist anymore and it won't happen anymore, casuals won't let it happen anymore, so there's no point in talking about it or referring to it.

I just miss the good ol days when I would go into a raid and actually feel I did something important when we killed that boss we have been wiping to for hours and only a handful of people were able to kill...

I am sure you miss the old days at 60 doing naxx and whatnot before shit got nerfed and I liked that exclusiveness to it.

The casuals are bleeding it dry...

It's the reason why I quit WoW before and the only reason I play now is to dick around with friends, and that's going to end when Aion finally gets released.

Hardcore PvE is fun when it's exactly that, hardcore. I've never been a fan of everyone getting everything, more skilled players should get better items than carebears, that's just how I've always been on MMOs. Am I biased? Probably since I'm one of those players who is capable of playing a game at the highest level and I feel like Joe Shmoe who only wants to put in 30 minutes a day and thinks he should get the same level of gear as me who knows how to not stand in fire should go fuck himself. /shrug

Some people say people like me who don't think everyone should get everything are elitist assholes, but I'm not interested in a game where I can point my character at a boss, stand on the other side of my room and throw darts at my keyboard and still kill a boss. What's the fucking point?

Anyways, not going to turn this into a WoW rant. I like Aion's approach to PvE from what I've read in Dark Poeta, and I hope they continue innovative ways to reward players who do well, while still letting everyone participate.

I really do wish we were allowed two sets of stigmas that we could swap in/out without having to run to the main city or have to pay large shard fees. For example, I'd love to run this for PvE, but it would cost 2k+ stigma shards every time I'd leave an instance ._.

Fear Shriek is one of SM's core skills, it should *always* be set just for the amount of "oh shi-" protection it offers. Even in very tight paths, its incredibly useful if you're smart about it.

Off topic, but when you use Fear Shriek do you actually hear your character scream or something? Lol, that would be neat, but only for about 2 or 3 times I suppose...

I still no nothing towards tanking in this game, at least till open beta, but is this setup good? Terhix' Stigma Calculator - Templar

Aoe taunt is good and is having Incite rage worth the slot? I would probably replace it with unwavering devotion when I get to that point in the game but are resistances good as they were like in vanilla wow and certain FFXI fights?
