    Default PSP CFW

Alright, so I have a pandora battery I got used and I made a magic memory stick following a video guide on youtube but I can't get my red God of War PSP to power on with the pandora battery in it to even install CFW. It's one of the fat psp size batteries and it says "TOOL 3.6V 1800mAh Pandora battery" on the label. I put the battery into a CFW fat PSP and it went to the boot menu while holding the R trigger like it's supposed to.

Am I missing a step somewhere? I downloaded the MMS creator and ran all the steps on this video:
YouTube - How to Create a Magic Memory Stick (EASY)

tl;dr I just want my goddamn CFW on my new PSP, any help would be appreciated.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure I'm fucked. I have 5.51 on this PSP and the guide says it requires 5.03

You can't use ChickHEN but I think Pandora should still work. Unless you have a newer motherboard or a 3000.

I don't have the following folder tree on my PSP to copy and overwrite the resurrection.prx file to: "TM/DDC8/KD"

I pandora'd a red gow slim and it worked fine, I can't remember if I ran into a hickup or not, but it worked. You sure you did everything right?

Pretty sure; I did the 4 step MMS creator thingy then popped in the Pandora and the PSP wouldn't turn on to go any further. The pandora turned on the fat PSP perfectly fine but the light won't come on when put into my slim.

Have you tried turning it on with the pandora in and it plugged into the wall?

Yeah, it just turns on like normal. Holding R does nothing when powering on my slim with pandora and plugged into the wall :/

If you have firmware 5.51 or up, you can't do CFW, there's no way to do it. The developers of CFW have not found a way to downgrade 5.51 and up.

You're not supposed to have the PSP plugged into the jack, as far as I remember. This bypasses the check on the battery for maintenance mode.

I just read that tutorial on how to downgrade from 5.55ofw, I highly recommend you DO NOT try that because it can easily permanently brick your PSP.

Some red GOW psps, do come with the new mobos that don't let pandora downgrade. You could be one of those. I haven't use pandora in a long time.

But form your post, you did get to the Pandora Boot Menu, there should be a a PSPinfo (if i remember) sort of checker there. Give use that information please. (Will say what dreaded mobo model you have).

PS: Some red PSP are also hit or miss. SO don't force it , til you know your motherboard model.

I only got to the pandora boot menu on the fat PSP; I haven't been able to do anything with my red one. :/

I read online that on the sticker behind the battery there is a way to tell what motherboard you have. Mine says "IC: 409B-PSP2001"

The means it's the newer motherboard doesn't it? -_-

That code means it is currently unhackable with Pandora battery, and since ChickHEN only works with 5.50 and under, you're pretty much screwed until the modding community cracks it.

Oh well, I guess I've lived a couple of years without CFW anyway; what's another few months?

I've got a model 1001 with 5.00 M33-3 on it. I haven't even used the PSP in almost a year, but I remember it being able to download upgrades once I patched that firmware in. Now it says it can't connect to the server. What's the current firmware in common use as far as customs go, and what's a reliable site to get it from. I'm avoiding just clicking random links in Google searches looking for it, and Dark Alex's site is pretty bare now.

The update server for m33 was closed down. If you want m33-6 you can get it from PSP Hacks, PSP Custom Firmware, PSP Emulators, PSP Downloads fairly easily.

Bumping this since I've been derailing the other PSP thread for a week now. If my box is right, the side says "PSP-2001ZD / 98892" which means that it shouldn't be the newer motherboard. Since I can't get CFW installed on it though that makes me think it's the newer motherboard. I don't remember this shit being so damned confusing before.

I've been trying and failing to convince myself that I don't need CFW but I can't bring myself to install 6.0 to play the Metal Gear Peace Walker demo just in case there is a chance I can still downgrade from 5.55 that I now have installed to play Persona.

Try googling sometime. Entire first page is guides on how to do it, there's even YouTube videos of walkthroughs.

IIRC there's an app that tells you which motherboard you have. Unfortunately I don't remember the name and I'm too lazy to google it. ;x

    Edit: ta-88v3 identifier

    Good luck!

Yeah, already tried about twelve fucking guides and none of them work for me which is why I think I have the v3 motherboard even though according to my box it shouldn't.

Also, I can't run the motherboard identifying program without having CFW which doesn't help since I can't get CFW installed.

    'Round and round we go!

Ok so you should be able to hack it w/ a Pandora + MMS. i cant find any information on weather a GoW PSP can have a 88v3 Mobo

    1. Charge the Pandora battery. Do this by plunging the PSP into the wall > Remove real battery > Place Pandora in > Charge to 100%. Replace Pandora w/ real when 100% charged.

    2. Download PSP Downloads, Downloads for your PSP. Download, PSP Hacks - PSP Slim Hacks (Rain’s UltraLite MMS Maker for 5.00 M33-4 at the bottom of the page. wont let me link it for some reason)and http://pspslimhacks.com/index.php?dl_id=138 (5.00 OFW)

    3. Extract both to the same folder.

    4. Plug in PSP to PC. Run Rain’s UltraLite MMS Maker for 5.00 M33-4 w/ format option. Drive letter is the drive your PSP is assigned by your PC.

    5. Turn off your PSP. Remove battery. Hold L trigger. Place in Pandora. See the lights flash a bit then push X. Follow on screen instructions.

If you live in Tallahassee i would do it for you >.>

From what it sounds like x2 things could be wrong. your Pandora battery is not 100% charged or you have a bad Pandora. All PSPs should get to step 5. But if you flash a 88v3 motherboard it becomes perma bricked.

Made a thread for you here: http://forums.pspslimhacks.com/user-...html#post18494

And just in case this wasn't known, as I've seen no mention of it, 88v3 are hackable using ChickHEN r2.

I think this pandora won't work with my PSP for some reason. It works fine on a PSP 1000 but if I unplug my PSP 2000 from the wall with the pandora in it for more than a few seconds it shuts off.

Going into battery info it says it's 100% charged then turns off if I unplug the AC adapter.

Thanks for the help guys, this shit is frustrating the hell out of me.

EDIT: The power light only stays orange for about 10-15 seconds with the pandora in and the only way to get it to turn on is to leave it plugged into the wall which makes the PSP boot up like normal. A couple of seconds after unplugging it the PSP shuts off; it turns off in the same amount of time during boot up if the pandora is in and not plugged into the wall.
