No Playonline in Vista Business 64bit Registry (graphics problem)

Hey all. Wanted to say I've been playing since release but haven't been on since 2007 and that I've always known BG as one of the pimpest LS's.

Ok, now that I'm done with the asskissing here's my problem lol.

Just built new PC and running it on my 40" Sony 1080p. I'm a PC tech and for the life of me can't get this right. My graphics look very grainy at 1080p and to top it off I can't find Playonline in the registry, 64bit Vista Business. My main reason for looking for the entry is to change the background res to 2048x2048 to see if that helps. But I've got everything maxed on quality and still doesn't help. Also other res didn't do anything either. I know AA isn't applied but still has to be better then what I'm dealing with. I'll post SS in a few. Has anyone else came across this while running FFXI on their 1080p?

vista business 64bit

I've also noticed that when I play something in fullscreen thru mediaplayer11 it's also very grainy/pixely but non full screen looks like it should. Awesome. So I know something is up with my fullscreen switch. Anything would help. I have af@16 and trying to force aa@8 just to see if it helped. I've been on comp and not using my pc tech skills for 2+years so maybe I'm forgetting something that I shouldn't. Thx guys and also I've searched google for awhile and nothing similar except changing background res but can't even find the pol entry.

I dont think it's different, but I'm using win7 x64 and my reg entry is found at:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\PlayOnline US\SquareEnix\FinalFantasyXI

the wow6432node is where 32bit program entries are held? What resolution are you trying to play fullscreen video at, with your 40" screen? If you're higher or lower than 1920x1080, then that'd create the pixelated problem since this resolution is the native for that screen? not too sure on that.

In registry, the background res keys are 0003 and 0004. 1 and 2 are the window resolution.

Ya I think all 32-bit software goes into that registry location for 64-bit Vista/7. Had to look for that today myself.

The gtx 260 automatically detected as HDTV and set it to "native" 1920x1080@60hz. These new cards are nice, been along time since I upgraded. And thx for the info. Going to check now and see if the res boost helps. I've seen some SS in a few of these threads here that look amazing. I know I have the card for it but I'm wondering if the whole 1080p is all it's cracked up to be. I mean of I can get double res on a good LCD monitor then I may be switching back if this doesn't work. I'd rather have quality over size. Thx again ^^

Background res found and changed. Made a world of difference. Ecspecially when the image is enlarged by that much. Every jaggie looked like a frigging set of stairs. Thx for helpinge find that reg entry. Cya in game ^^
