Quick, someone make some AV vids of Mortem V.! This thread has entertained me very much and has made my work day zoom by. If SE didn't intend for the mob to be defeated they should have never put it in the damn game.

It would be quite an accomplishment if the subsequent nerf prompts SE to give us more information on AV. If it dropped something, the items gained help accomplish other things thus indirectly giving you a sense of accomplishment. Will you feel accomplished if you kill him this way though? I mean honestly? If you didn't get a drop from him that is...
I'd feel accomplished the first couple times doing it. Zerging didn't really deserve any hate at first because it was avant garde.
Not sure what makes you believe they didn't intend it to be killed, but that is clouded judgment. It has drops and you can lock 2hrs and regen, if anyone thinks it can't be killed they should think again, and again.. until they think otherwise. It's clear they don't want it killed using BS methods that shouldn't be allowed for anything in the game, but other than that.. they just don't give a shit. They do however, care that everyone continues to pay that monthly bill, and you can tell they are stupid because despite what the players feel, they will not disclose the information on how to further weaken and kill it.

The funny part is that, it's almost a mathematical certainty the majority of the people who would/did report it have used BW zerg which is JUST as BS as this. Not only this, but they almost certainly use windower plug-ins etc., which are completely unacceptable, cheating resources. Btw, of course SE would probably nerf it, but that doesn't mean someone has to call them and tell them the problem. Anyone who would report something is a total douche, end of story (unless it is a glitch that happened to them that they might be banned if they didn't).
Yes because it's completely unexpected that you wouldn't admit to doing it. Sad truth is the only other people who knew the info were Saria and I, I've had Nours's info for years and Saria wouldn't delete it because we were still actively using it anyways.
The only motive I can see is you wanted to be a minor inconvenience to us or when I said I had the numbers for AV, you wanted to get rid of a SCH. I really don't care why you did it, it was overly childish.
Whatever, dude. I'd rather stay away from people capable of accusing others of such shit just to make them look bad. At this point I could give less of a fuck if you defeated AV once, twice or whatever many times you please. In fact, I am aware I made it easier for you guys to pull this off. But I think you have other issues that need to be taken care of, instead of wasting so much effort (and imagination, mind you) on something so silly.
It's a fucking game.
This has to be said in every AV thread: Whatever method that is supposed to be used against AV will never work every time. SE stated in an interview that AV is not meant to be farmed so any strategy that works with any amount of consistency will be patched with or without people reporting it.
Stop caring, move on, fuck AV.
*shrug* i'd be rather happy with myself if i beat AV this way. the only way to win a kobayashi maru is through "original thinking" and yes i realize exactly how geeky this comparison is, so save your breath. if you can't win through conventional means, find another way.
Perhaps they said that, but once it is solved it will be farmed. I suspect it will be farmed well before then. As long as we are talking about cheesy ways to kill AV, let's talk.
Cannonball. Just like PW was beaten using in part a zombie Blu cannonball spam, why can't you do the same to AV? Break his JOL regen with the pets, then break 'element of the day' regen, lock up Benediction, and whatever else you feel like/have to in the process. Then cycle through blu's with hymnus till its dead.
20 min for Jol, say 20 to lock Bene. That leaves you an hour and 20 minutes to kill it. Think you can use cannonball to maintain >500 damage per minute without leaving him unclaimd long enough to regen? I bet you can. Can find a whm with Protect 5 merits and a bard with Minne III and IV and 234251235413 Blu's, with lots of buffer and decent Cannonball builds? I bet it's a lot easier then finding 9 precision scholars with gear merits and ability.
Once you can lock Bene, his killable. A million blu's, all the war's on your server, scholars with Helix (although locking bene has no effect on this method) letting him chainspell until he has no Mp ect... there are a million possible ways. And on top of that there is 'the right way'. Bottom line with his history and loot pool, he will be farmed, in the near future. Its all a matter of how.
And regardless of how he's killed, I would feel accomplished. When we killed the first zerg AV in SapereAude, it was not a new tactic, it was not a new strategy, but it damn sure felt good.
I'm not sure what's worse... the Kobayashi Maru comparision, or knowing exactly what it means. -.-
Not necessarily.

According to this interview, AV was designed to randomly pop as a sign of bad luck. If that is the case I am not sure why it even drops anything in the first place if they didn't want AV to be farmed. As more people started to try to target AV, they made adjustments and now he is a 100% pop after JoL instead of random.Speaking of Absolute Virtue, there was an interesting behind the scenes tidbit Tanaka mentioned. Back before the adjustments, Absolute Virtue did not pop every time Jailer of Love was defeated. This was because Absolute Virtue really wasn’t intended as a final target! Tanaka quotes one of the developers as saying something like you were supposed to feel unlucky if AV appeared. However, over time, AV became more of a target to the players than Jailer of Love itself.
That also brings up an interesting topic. As part of the story lore or world setting, it makes sense to have things that the players cannot defeat. However, from just a game standpoint, it seems silly to spend time creating monsters that players have no chance of defeating. Are monsters like Absolute Virtue and Pandemonium Warden worth the time and effect the developers put into them? Or should they be focusing on other things?
It didn't drop anything the first kill, did it?
When it was first made they might have felt that way, but it can be killed now, has drops, has a title, and has a specific method needed in order to be practically killed. Btw the first kill did not drop anything, but players did receive a title, I was one of those.
I have no fucking clue what happened in the post above, no rational explanation for that actually, I simply quoted someone, typed, and submitted and it showed up with that.
