Its only one week away, and I am totally pumped for NSMBWii. I fear I will need to lock myself away from any more info on the game lest I ruin the experience for myself. Here's some of the info that's gotten me all in on this game:

On one console.

I don't know if it can outdo MW2 in just the holiday season, but considering how the DS New Super Mario Brothers has sold 20 million copies, this one is going to be huge.

As much as I hate Reggie, I wouldn't say that NSMBW outselling MW2 (on one console, lol) is that much of a stretch, especially considering this is Mario we're talking about.

Either way, can't wait for this game. Lack of online is slightly disappointing but the concept is one I've been waiting to see implemented for a long time. Hopefully they use the super guide feature to the fullest and give us some actual challenge.

EDIT: after looking at charts, first month sales of CoD4 360 and SMG were almost equal, so perhaps I overestimated the number of shootan fans

I actualy think the mario game would have a chance given the install base of the wii and almost everyone who owns nintendo systems buy their first party titles.

I think you underestimate just how many sales this game's going to get off of brand recognition alone. A lot of those "casuals" you're talking about will see the name Mario and buy the game without a second thought, regardless of what the gameplay is like (See: Mario and Sonic at the olympic games). There's a reason the DS game sold as much as it did and it certainly isn't groundbreaking gameplay.

Maybe its just the people I know, but I know several sets of parents and grandparents who's gaming library consists of Wii Sports and Wii Fit. One of them has Mario Kart, but never plays it,
