    Spoiler: show

I just watched the movie today with my wife.

I wasn't sure that the name was correct, but after looking into it, I find it interesting that Kirk's Wife from the alternate timeline was the scientist who snuck her way onto the ship. I liked how they introduced Khan also. These series of movies are coming along nicely.

I too, would love a TV show based off this crew

On topic of series with this style/crew: The main "problem" with this idea (which mind you, would be awesome) is that Star Trek has always been based off exploration and discovery, not action and adventure. The newer movies don't have enough of that because it would really slow down the pace etc.

Yeah, I don't think they'll try to pull off a movie without Earth being directly or indirectly threatened. Soft Sci-fi sells well, hard sci-fi, where you have loads of aliens in far off places, just doesn't appeal to enough of the public to justify the next ST and its huge budget catering to the more hardcore; they probably already see the constant TOS+Movies references and being good enough.

I would love a new series, Stargate Universe was the closest thing we have had to a star trek recently.

I want a spin off based on this timeline, with Old Spock leading a young crew made up of the best of the best, exploring the impact the nero and him had on this universe...(timey whimey stuff)

    I loved it.

Maybe even more than the first one, although that may be just because this is fresher in my mind.

It was a fun flick. They allllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllmost overdid the homage stuff where they pulled old lines from previous stuffs. I could have used a little less, but it was fun.

It was really riding that line, but an overall fun movie.

Do recommend seeing it in 3D

    Spoiler: show
I loved the scene where they are all getting beat on the deck of the Dreadnaught ship.
I wasn't expecting Khan to be so brutal there. The way he just slapped Carol and crushed her leg when she fell made me cringe. It got even worse when he crushed her fathers head.

Also did any other Doctor Who fans notice Mickey in the beginning of the movie.
THAT WAS MICKEY? Ugh need to rewatch it now

It's not because people are trekkies but more so that the story for the last third was lazy and had been done already.

    Spoiler: show
It's because as soon as Kirk punched Scotty and headed into the warp core, every single person who saw WoK knew the entire rest of the film and that's supposed to be the big climax. Even the bit with the tribble being how they brought Kirk back to life was easily predictable. The rest of the movie was fantastic though.

I'm not a trekkie, though I have seen a ton of Stark Trek and enjoy it but the end was merely a remake of WoK, with some alterations and bigger explosions. I loved everything up until Kirk enters the warp core, and then it was kinda meh, but I still enjoyed it. Kirk's death and Spock's emotions aren't as big a deal in this either because they honestly barely know each other. They haven't been on the epic 5 year mission and already have a ton of memories to solidify their friendship, so the emotional impact of that scene is merely using the old Kirk/Spock relationship to pull our strings.

They could have done much better if they made it more original. It was good but like I said before, it would have been better if I never watched the original WoK, which is a better story anyways, imo.

I never look for lens flares so I never notice them. I'm afraid that the day I start seeing them some movies will be ruined for me forever lol.

The scene with the chick talking to Peter Weller from the bridge, I couldn't see anything BUT the lens flare. This from a guy who didn't even notice it in the first movie.

he didn't last that long. I saw him on red carpets and stuff and thought he might have a bigger role to play.

I didn't notice the lens flare at all in the first movie. Saw it everywhere in this one. I'm assuming you guys ruined it for me by pointing it out lol.

But besides that, movie was amazing.

    Spoiler: show
I liked the role reversal at the end, especially with them saying "I was only doing what you would do".

I thought Crixus's girl from Spartacus had a bigger role. She was there for a half of a second at the end, but they did an entire article post of her being in the new star trek.

    Oh well.
