How could Bane work? Apart from having him be some guy doped up on steroids, there's no way you can just have a button to press to get massive muscles. And Bane was more of a henchman than a schemer.

Bane is one of about 4 villans (the Riddler, the Joker, and Hush the only others who come to mind) that are as smart or smarter then Batman. He and the Joker are the only villains to completely destroy him so far as well (obviously Bane did so more physically).

I see.. My only experiences with Bane were through TAS as I've read very few of the comics. Just started a torrent of a lot of the major arcs to fill myself in as it's been something I've been putting off.

Bane figured out Batman true identity, let everyone from Arkham out to fuck with him, and at the end broke his spine when Batman could barely walk. Was a great villain in the comic book but I dont think it would translate well into the movie.

You're forgetting Ra's al Ghul, who sussed out Batman's identity and lair, and to my knowledge is the only person for whom Bane has played henchman, among other things.

But then again, they kinda used him up in the first film. :/

I don't know if you guys have seen it, but I just watched the new Batman animated movie, Batman: Under the Red Hood. It was absolutely fantastic. I really hope the new Nolan script takes this angle, in regards to why Batman refuses to kill.

Under the Red hood was fucking great, easily one of the best movies I have seen this year. I like how they incorporated the Black Mask in because I have really seen him a part of any series or movie for that matter.

And for above about Bane being a henchman is way off.. there was even a couple of times he teamed up in batman via comics to get something done... Bane has grudging respect for Batman since he won't back down from him... not to say he won't try to break his back again ( won't happen more than likely though ).

From what I remember the most dangerous thing about Bane was his intelligence coupled with his brute strength. He was hardly the "henchman" that Batman & Robin: Icecapades made him out to be.

Sure, he can move planets and re-route rivers and eat lightning and crap thunder, but he can't improve the human condition--he can't cure cruelty, loss of self worth, things of that nature. What good is the power to travel the stars and reshape continents when all you want to do is stop someone wanting to kill themselves? What would it do to Superman if he were the cause of such a problem?

And what if he tried to actively interfere with the workings of human governments? What would be the ramifications? How would the world's population view him then?

Alex Ross' "Superman: Peace on Earth" could lay the foundation for one hell of a movie, I feel.
One of the few times I enjoyed Superman was when he had this problem during the No Man's Land Batman arc. All his power could do nothing to get people working together when they were facing such a disaster.

Ever since I read this decades ago, I've wished for that to be a movie. The Batman vs Superman fight was epic.

Just finished reading the comics from when Bane's introduced till Bruce retakes the role of Batman. I see what you guys were saying about Bane being a bigger deal than he was in TAS. Azreal as Batman part was annoying to read, but definitely made it more enjoyable when Bruce returned to take it back.

Dark Knight Rises casting rumors make us wonder if Clayface is in the mix
    Quote Originally Posted by http://io9.com/5679659/dark-knight-rises-casting-rumors-make-us-wonder-if-clayface-is-in-the-mix
Rumor has is that Charlize Theron and a few other Hollywood beauties have been are being courted for the new love interests in The Dark Knight Rises. But even more excitingly, one of these ladies could bring Clayface with her.

Comic Book Movie got a tip that Theron has been approached to play Detective Sarah Essen, who will be the love interest for Jim Gordon. This character winds up having an affair with Gordon, and it's implied that Essen might be shown to be the real mother of Batgirl. Odd, as we thought Nolan already addressed the Batgirl story, in Batman Begins, perhaps not.

The next big tip from CMB is the one that has us really excited — actresses Kacie Thomas and Vera Farmiga have both auditioned for the role of Julie Madison, a possible Bruce Wayne love interest. These are two very different actresses indeed, and honestly we hope they go with Farmiga, but let's focus on the character Madison for now. Madison is a socialite/actress, who was actually engaged to Bruce at some point or another. Still the most interesting thing about Madison is her involvement with the villain Clayface. Madison is eventually cast to remake a classic film that originally starred B-list movie star Basil Karlo, an actor not handling his aging very gracefully. Naturally Kalo is beyond pissed about the remake, and decides to start murdering all of the people involved, until Batman intervenes. Who knows if this storyline would turn up in the film, but the Clayface-Julie Madison connection seems promising.

I know these rumors are a little heartbreaking for Catwoman fans, but this totally backs up our previous guess that Clayface would turn up in this film. Plus the vain-actor version of Clayface is just dying for the gritty Nolan touch. This storyline is almost too perfect in its timeliness, with all the remakes running rampant in Hollywood.

You could simply make him like the Chameleon just someone who uses masks and subterfuge. Also it doesn't rule out that he may have melted his face through Micheal Jackson levels of plastic surgery. It's not like a person could have survived very long with a face like Harvey Dent did in the last movie, there's gritty and feasible vs reality.
