Hmpf :/ I don't like that idea...but to be honest I'm mainly getting my info from The Animated Series, so if he didn't originally have all those shape-shifting powers in the comics I'm fine with it. But it would be weird if they didn't incorporate that part if he DID have them.

Well it's not impossible, I suppose. Just unlikely that Nolan would make him a shapeshifter. I'm definitely not against it and I bet Nolan could do a decent job of the paranormal and/or sci-fi portions of Batman.

The other rumor that I read was a version of Killer Croc without the mutations. That would be even weaker than Clayface.

Maybe it's just me due to not seeing TAS in years, but I didn't notice a huge difference between the TAS/Batman Begins Scarecrows. They're both into the psychology of fear and worked on a fear inducing gas which is what they used as a weapon.

Honestly, the only difference was the suit/ mask the scarecrow used in TAS versus the movie... I liked the mask that was used in Batman begins... but was hoping for him to go all out and use the outfit as well instead of a biz suit to be honest :-/ I would love to see killer croc as the villan... under rated in my opinion, and if you are looking for someone to kill batman outright and do everything he can, Croc is the man

I know this character was used in Batman Begins but Zsasz would be easy to do.. he is just a homicidal maniac who cuts himself when he kills someone ( I think he was named sasz , was in the courtroom when scarecrow was testifying and getting him sent to arkham).

Yeah, he's the mobster Rachel is trying to convict the first time we see her working as a DA. He's also the criminal who she's about to shoot when she's protecting the kid when Batman leaps down and saves them (one of my favorite parts in the movie is after that, so I've watched it a lot XD)

Ever since the news broke that Tom Hardy had been cast in The Dark Knight Rises people have wondered what role he would play. Fans across the internet have come up with a lot of ideas, from a Gotham cop, to the main villain. The following information is a rumor, and should be treated as such.

I’ve heard that Tom Hardy is in fact going to play the villain. My source strongly believes that Hardy is going to be playing Hugo Strange. This is the first bit of information from this person that I’m publishing, however they have been accurate in the past. For example, this person told me weeks before the recent Christoper Nolan interview that The Riddler would not be appearing in the film. They also mentioned that Rachel Weisz and Anne Hathaway were in the running for the lead female role a couple of weeks before Deadline posted their list. Given their track record so far, I wanted to post this Hardy news that I received via email. Again, this should just be taken as rumor. I’m posting this for the sake of discussion since we’ve hit a dry spell with The Dark Knight Rises news. What do you guys think? Would you like to see Hugo Strange as the villain?

This morning we received word from a P.R contact involved with the third film in the franchise that the upcoming sequel will in fact be based on the graphic novel Prey. Prey centers itself around Batman being pursued by the deranged police psychiatrist ..Doctor Hugo Strange. When police officer Max Cort comes to Strange for treatment for his hatred of vigilantes, Strange hypnotises Cort into becoming a costumed vigilante himself named Night Scourge in the hopes of bringing Batman out of hiding. Strange also convinces the mayor to prepare a special task force to capture Batman with Commissioner Gordon as its head.

Nolan has always chosen complex psychologically driven characters over super powered & physically effective Villains and also the narrative fits perfectly into the natural progression of a very Frank Miller inspired origin via [Year One's] influence over Batman Begins & Batman the Dark Knight. Prey essentially is a dark psychological thriller.

Producer Charles Roven has credits attributed to him in a vast array of big movies, including some of the biggest comic book film adaptations. Two of those happen to be the upcoming third film in Christopher Nolan's Batman series, The Dark Knight Rises and Zack Snyder's upcoming reboot of Superman. In a recent interview discussing his current project, Nicolas Cage vehicle Season of the Witch, he answers a few questions about the two highly-anticipated films. While both movies are slated for the second half of 2012, they've been the subject of speculation for few years, at this point. One major point of speculation, which was re-stoked last month with another rumor, surrounded whether or not DC and Warner would take the reboot of Superman as an opportunity to link together the movie universes of its two signature heroes. Well, Roven would not only address this issue, but also discusses the process that both directors Nolan and Snyder will undergo, with the shooting of these films likely to begin real soon.

When asked the important question of whether or not the upcoming Batman and Superman films would share a single universe, Roven, (to his credit as a straight-shooter,) answered emphatically "no." Adding:

"That may be in somebody's mind but right now the Batman lives in his world and the Superman lives in his world. Those stories are those stories and we haven't thought beyond each individual picture."

Roven now finds himself balancing a huge workload, bouncing back and forth between the Batman and Superman projects. The focus right now, is to make sure that each film will be good in its own right, not on any crossover potential.

"Right now Dark Knight Rises is coming out in the summer of 2012 and Superman is coming out in the winter of 2012. So hopefully -- and we're just at the beginning phases of both of them. We haven't even entered official pre-production on either one of them -- there will be a little bit of room. They're both going to be long shoots. I'm sure there's going to be some overlap, but hopefully there'll be as little overlap as possible."

He also assures that, although it will be his last Bat-film, The Dark Knight Rises will receive the full undistracted attention of Christopher Nolan's talents.

"I've said this about Chris before: I've never known Chris to do anything but focus on the movie he's making. He gets completely immersed in the movie he's doing and I know that all he's thinking about right now when it comes to Batman, the Dark Knight Rises, is making it the best movie he can. He's not thinking, "will there be another one?"

However, with Nolan's impending exit, you do get the sense that DC/Warner are also quietly watching how things progress over at Marvel with the string of comic book films building-up to 2012 mega-event, The Avengers. If indeed, that franchise becomes a box-office golden goose, then regardless of the state of things right now, I wouldn't expect to see Batman warm the bench with his kevlar butt-huggers for too long after Nolan's departure. With this summer's Green Lantern also an important test for the idea of a broader stable of heroes, talk of a string of Justice League films would undoubtedly start to swirl and I could easily see DC attempt to create a similar momentum buildup with a (...gulp) new Batman series, one that will be crossover-friendly.

Superman news that I didn't see while going through the topic;

In France to promote Legend of the Guardians: the Owls of Ga’Hoole, the newly tapped Superman director said his movie will be its own story: "The film will focus on the early days of Superman, so there will be no links with other films. This is not a remake. Similarly, although I still cannot talk about the script — I can assure you that this new Superman will not be based on a comic book in particular.” Rather than recycle a classic yet again, an original Superman script is probably a good idea. Plus, this could mean another stab at a wild origin story.

Though Armie Hammer recently told Vulture that Zach Snyder's Superman reboot was looking for a lead actor in the 35-to-40 age range, Deadline reports that producers have set their sights a little younger: They're now looking for a non-name actor between 28 and 32 for the role. (Sorry, Jon Hamm!) They'll soon begin auditioning hundreds of actors for the film, which has a start date in June; that might be good news for rumored contender Joe Manganiello (the 33-year-old actor who's within spitting distance of the studio's age range), since his work on the fourth season of True Blood will have wrapped by then.

Buffest pic I could find of Tom Hardy. Not too sure about Anne, or Tom for that matter, but all I can think of when I see Tom is his role in Rockarolla. Don't see him as Bane, unless Bane is very flamboyant.
