I still hope there's an option to "Check" the mobs to get their toughness because I'm worried about my colorblindness being an issue. I also am worried about the readings of mobs being different when in a party because of aggro. A mob that is is EP while solo might be too weak in a party but you'd still get aggro running past.
If your HP reaches 0 you get knocked the fuck out. I love that.
So has the alpha started and/or is the client just available to DL now? :3
Bleh ...When the display name of a PC is semi-transparent, it indicates that player is currently in a different area than you. These PCs are still displayed on-screen to help contribute to the seamless transitioning between areas. However, players should note that party invites cannot be extended across areas.
I won't comment on the rest of the stuff, cause you can't tell what combat is going to be like will be like til you try it and get used to its ins and outs. But I thought we were past this "have to be in the same area to invite" stuff. This is not 8 years ago. If we can do a /sea all then we should be able to invite people across the entire world like we can in every other MMO since XI was released.
Otherwise, I am pretty impressed with what I see. Some of the stuff is odd sounding, but until we see what exactly it is, its too soon to judge.
This makes it sound like each person in a party will have their own loot pool. That should be nice and chaotic. The Spoils of War
Any items received after a battle will be placed in a player’s loot list. During party play, items are distributed randomly to the lists of each member.
After a certain period of time, items on a loot list will be automatically moved to a player’s inventory. Should the player’s inventory be full, the items will be lost.
Items on a loot list are not considered in a player’s possession until they are added to his/her inventory. Until then, any items, including those which are rare (untradeable) and unique (players can possess no more than one), can be transferred to another party member’s list.
Im curious, did anybody get into the alpha who chose 24-48hrs a week of playtime? or did everyone choose 72hr+. Forgot what I put, but curious since I'm pretty sure i chose 24-48 to be honest... but would suck if they only looking for ppl who put 48-72+. And if u redo your app you invalidated (as was previously noted on their site) all your submissions, but since they allow you to resubmit your app.. can you now "update" your old submission?
Sounds identical to FFXI's loot system, thank god cause having to loot mobs gets so tedious
It's been a while, but I'm pretty sure I chose 24 hours/week. I did get in through Alla's special offer, though I have no idea how relevant that is.
Nope. Client still isn't available yet. They said early April though so hopefully within a few days.
Don't forget this is just alpha, it's likely that you'll be able to invite anywhere when the game's released, it's probably just for stability issues.
somebody somewhere said the alpha would be limited to one zone. i have no idea where he got his information, if its legit or not, or where exactly said person said that, but i think it was one of the other XIV forums active atm.
anyway, if its true then zone limited invites shouldn't be an issue i don't think.
I have never been so excited for a game as I have been for FFXI..... I remember how excited I was for 11.... man It's excitement 2.0 this time..
It sounds fine to me. Instead of having a master loot list that belongs to the group, each player has their own loot list. The items are still distributed randomly to each one, and people can trade between their lists. It's more or less what we have right now, with the game doing random rolls for you.
This is fine and all, but I really wish they took a cue from Diablo 3 and did actual complete individual loot lists (instead of splitting the pool between each player's own pool, everyone actually has a randomized instance of the entire pool), to get rid of the loot distribution issue altogether.
ok so i just got teased with a SE newsletter and found this in it
but everybody on here says its been updated somewhere saying only the final submitted application would be valid.Testers for the highly anticipated FINAL FANTASY XIV have been selected for the closed alpha phase. To those who were not selected in this drawing, don't worry! There will be other opportunities to come. Please sit tight and remember not to re-register if you've already submitted a beta application—this will get you disqualified for selection, and we'd hate to see that happen!
so what the fuck is it?
