its 20 more damage?
From what i understood Aegis is designed to be shield boosting def vs magic and Ochain vs melee. That's why Ochain has so high block rate. To fix this SE planning to boost Aegis even more vs magic. I wouldnt be surprise if they will add chance for blocking to magical dmg for aegis but more realistic will be 10% dmg from magic convert to mp or 25% chance to absorb magic dmg.
so i just got 90 yoichi and namsa pretty much ties side now, we wer frighting ironcrlad smiter and side vs namas, namas was doing 1 dmg more than side, bear in mind hate free/ and r.acc bonus! pretty happy, esp considering we will have 95/99 trials
Our LS finally finished our Dynamis sweep last night and the final count was 23 level 90 relics completed as a team. Been a pretty lame few months because of having to do city sweeps for horns/shields and 2 sweeps of BCD >< Everyone stuck around though as a team and got everyone done. Dynamis down time now for a bit before SE bring on the next trial from hell ~.~
Finished my gun some time ago to 90 and I am happy with the Coronach dmg boost for hate free dmg. 99 trial should bring it in line with Slug Shot pretty much.
Oh so 3 upgrades of shield bash get you almost the same damage that a simple Fenian Ring would add. That's cool..
A level 99 aegis should let you shield bash every 60 seconds or something (down to 10 seconds with merits.) If PLD could be a reliable stunner while meleeing, it'd at least give them *something*.
Little late, but grats pzpz!!!
Repeated the same test with Lv90 Apoc:
118/1644 = ~7.17%
~1600 isn't enough sample size to say there's a difference between the two, but I doubt there was any increase in relic proc rate. (If there is it's probably like 1% and you'd need like a 10,000 sample size with and without to check which realli just isn't worth it.)
As noted in a previous post, relic proc can only proc on the first hit of a multi-hit attack round. I originally said I used 9% DA, but looking back, I saw I used 13% DA. So using some estimated math to rule out my DAs and Zanshin hits:
Lv 85 Apoc - 103/1407 = ~7.3%
Lv 90 Apoc - 118/1436 = ~8.2%
(Combined: 221/2843 = ~7.77%)
Proc rate seems to be about 7-8%, possibly 1/12 (~8.3%) like we originally thought.
Also note, in case anyone missed it... There's some talk in this thread that relic H2H might have a different proc rate, so there is a chance not all weapons have the same proc rate. For now, I think this is a good estimate.
Making a separate post for this, but I also completed Lv90 Gjallar, and I just want to confirm that our estimates were right on target.
Lv90 Gjallar + AF3+2 Hands + March x2 = 288/1024 Haste.
Add in 150/1024 for Haste spell, puts you @ 438/1024 Haste. 10/1024 shy of the magic haste cap. Very fun~
Nice good job guys Some of us are about 1-2 away from lvl 90s too. Either some server wide efforts, or LS members, we are getting the job done. Can't wait to see a lil boost in dmg
Completed lv 90 Aegis on Monday and decided to test block rate. I had done a previous test at lv 85 with a 6,000~ hit sample size which I had recorded a 49% block rate. I did the tests on chigoes in abyss atto; I gathered around 10 and pulled them into a small pathway so they'd bunch up and I could make sure they were all in front of me. For lv 90 I got a 10,107 hit sample size so I could make sure I was more accurate; 6,282 of those were blocks. So unless my first test was flawed in some way, it looks like Aegis got a 10%~ increase in block rate. I'll post my parse data for anyone who would like to look over the data and see if I missed anything.

I calculated the shield block procs from the gap in dmg, 7-16 melee dmg and 20-67 crit dmg. Please reply if you have any questions about my tests.
So... Anyone on Bahamut still doing dynamis trials? I doubt my LS will survive the merge, and I haven't managed to get them to do the Ice trials yet >.> I'll finish my last Windy trial at least, but my husband and I will need the 5 Quiebitiel kills. We also have a Scythe that will be completed ("Base" completion) as soon as we find a 30 Jade loan, and I would like to help her get the Velosareon kills after the merge too.
Block rate supposedly caps at 65%, affected by shield skill and level difference. I'm pretty sure any increase in block rate is based on your increased level and skill, and not on any changes to Aegis.
You'd have wanted to do a level 90 test with the level 85 Aegis to be sure.
Sorry I guess I should have worded that more clearly. When referring to my lv 85 test, it was Aegis lv 85 and I was lv 90. This was done 2 days prior to me completing the lv 90 version. Granted 6k isn't a 10k sample; but I'm pretty sure the numbers wouldn't have been so drastically different in comparison. I know shield skill is affected by lv; however other relics got a boost at 90 so I figured they'd do the same for Aegis which is why I did the tests.
Went back through my old Relic Proc data to find another stat:
Lv85 Apoc: 1702 Hits - 175 Additional Effect: Blindness (10.28%)
Lv90 Apoc: 1722 Hits - 146 Additional Effect: Blindness (8.48%)
Kinda funny that I got a lower rate on the Lv90 version, but it's probably due to low sample size. Proc rate seems about ~10%. The level variance on Abyssea Birds (Grier) was fairly low, but it did exist and should be accounted for.
Also important to note: http://img827.imageshack.us/img827/7851/addeffproc.png
This shows that Add Effect: Blindness from Apoc does overwrite~
