Thread: Kitron Macaron     submit to reddit submit to twitter

  1. #81

Well I can safely say that whilst using macarons I've not had nearly as many critical breaks whilst several levels under the skill cap and have had more skill up rates than without macarons. As soon as the food buff wears it's bang! 5/6 materials lost multiple times in a row and next to no skill points even during a full moon. Some recipes however are just bad to skill up on, especially past level 50. I've noticed that drinks and pies are horrible to skill up with regardless what moon phase it is, using advanced synthesis buff, chef's hat and macarons.

Edit: Crap, this thread is a year old... sorry for bumping, guess this forum isn't frequented often.

It is frequented often, we just already accept kitron as significant decreasing break rates and increasing skill up rate. Your reference to a sample size of 5/6 and a full moon shows you need to read the stickies.

    Hello all,

I'm aware that Kitron is generally accepted to do two things at this point: Lower the break rate and Increase the rate of skillups. This thread has been long on speculation anecdotal evidence, but short on actual data. I'm going to do some testing similar to the Shaper's Shawl testing I completed here. I also have an additional reason to do this testing – which I will explain in a separate thread at a later time.

    Methodology:

    Spoiler: show

Two different characters on two different accounts, each one capped at same level.

Each character would start crafting at same time, on the same recipe. Why? This is mostly obvious.

    It eliminates situational factors, like:

    Day of the Week
Direction (both faced same direction for every synth)
Moon Phase (both started a new level at same time)
It has been speculated that different recipes have different skillup rates. I don't know if it has any merit or not, but by using the same recipe, it eliminates this possibility. Furthermore, I am using the same recipes as I used in the Shaper's Shawl thread, for consistencies sake.
Staying withing 5 levels of known recipe cap in order to give both characters a chance to skill up off breaks.
(I don't believe in the direction stuff, but doing two characters at same time makes it easy to make the only variable the cape)

No NPC synth support on either character at any time.

Each character stopped once a level was complete to wait for other character to catch up.

    Slightly Specific results:

    Spoiler: show

    Character “W” (No Kitron)
90 .1 skillups in total 397 total synths (23.01% skillup rate)

Do you happen to have data on skillup rates on each seperated by success/failure?

You mean tracking the loss statistics?

Trying to quantify how much Kitron affects material loss? Do I understand?

So trying to track the difference between succeeding on the synth and getting a skillup, and failing on the synth and getting a skillup?

Yes. Part of the thought on them was they increased skillup rate was because success rate was higher

No, I had not. I'm not sure how you would even quantify that, since we know skillups are possible off a failure. Maybe a certain chance of skillup off success, but a different chance of skillup off a failure?

Sounds like a job for someone else!

Yeah that's kinda what I thought might be possible but seems you didn't oh well only really matters in trying to decide to break synth or not

Not sure where to ask this, so I'll stick it here. The foods from Inventor's Coalition, Macaroon and Rusk, what do they do? I'm guessing Macaroon is a skill up food. If so, what rate is it compared to Kitron?

It's rate is too expensive to properly test

But I think its safe to say with its cost being so ultra high its a good idea to use when skilling up if you can afford to dump the bayld into it. Just save up like 5 stacks of synthing to do all at once and grind away.

Though Id recommend to everyone to wait til sunday before skilling up, as chances are almost no servers got the enhanced skillup rate on ionis yet.

This isn't a very extensive test but I had lots of spare bayld on my cooking mule so I decide to waste some on Tiny Macararons while I skilled up. Synth was Colored Eggs. Went from 66.3 to 68 in 35 synths. Which was 17/35 since it's over 60 and can no longer get anything over .1. The macarons only last 3 min which is just long enough for 6 synths or 7 if you're fast. Used 6 macarons total. Here's the break down per macaron.

    1. 4/6
    2. 3/6 (1 break)
    3. 3/6
    4. 0/6
    5. 4/6
    6. 3/5 (Stopped since I hit the cap on the synth at this point.)

So again, low number of total synths but I guess it's better than nothing.

Edit: Worth noting I had Ionis on so that applied to the skill up rate.

Yeah while the sample size is low and that is a problem the main problem is we have no rate to compare it to. That's why most this testing is usually done side by side with another character exactly the same minus whatever is being tested

I've been using more Tiny Macarons on my crafting mules since they have bayld to burn for now. I know there's nothing to compare this to, but I'm recording the results for my reference to see if I can get an average skill up rate and figured I'd share what I got.

    Cooking Mule:
    Spoiler: show

    Previous results:
    66.3 - Colored Egg cap 68

    4/6
    3/6 (1 break)
    3/6
    0/6
    4/6

    3/5
    1/5
    1/5 (69.9)

    15/39 total

    Combined total 32/74 43.2%

    Bonecraft Mule:
    Spoiler: show

    64.1 Ladybug Ring cap 65

    1/7
    3/6
    1/7

    25/96 total

    Combined total: 26/105 24.7%

Combined total of both chars: 58/179 for 32.4% skill up rate.

Again low sample size but it seems to be similar to kitrons. May be worth using if you only have a few synths you want to do and don't feel like wasting a kiron on them.

At any rate, I'll continue to use tiny macarons till my mules run out of bayld and record the results. If this info isn't useful to anyone I won't post the rest.

No, relevant to my interests. Enough small data points add up.
