As someone said, it's disappointing to see that WTC hasn't been finished yet due to a lot of red tape and bureaucratic bullshit. Not to mention contract sales of labor under the table and pilfering of fund. I've seen so many skyscrapers rise in matter of few years, while this none sense happening to WTC site. Governmental projects take way to long to build compared to corporate projects.

Right on cue. They are all attractive, but this surprising frequency of Muslims winning beauty pageants makes me suspect an odd form of affirmative action.
I'm not in favor of terrorism or anything... but why not let them build their shit there?
Because 9/11. I mean, read the thread!
How some people in a country that is and was at war in two muslim countries and is currently bombing a third think that it's going through a process of "islamization" is astounding.
Maybe that's why England didn't want to go to Iraq? I mean come on, Crusades man. That would have been insensitive.
That's cuz we're not blowing up with the bombs.
I can understand how these people feel, but I'd have to dumb myself down and then think irrationally.
On the flip-side, a 'Museum of Tolerance' is currently being built on top of a historic cemetery where many Palestinians are buried going back centuries or something. That to me is a better example of being blatantly insensitive.
If they built this Mosque on top of Ground Zero, then sure, I could 'understand' the anger. I'd also wonder, why the fuck would they build anything other than another set of towers (to show how we 'rebuilt'/recovered/etc.) or a giant memorial.
But this thing is not on top of Ground Zero. It's near it, but it's not like the 'Museum of Tolerance' being built on another peoples' cemetery...
Buildings that were destroyed by parts of the planes when it happened aren't a part of ground zero?
I love the word 'Islamization' - just shows you how little political capital Muslims have. And how the powerful always portray themselves as victims.
Sophistry like that requires you forget it's us occupying two 'Islamic' countries. Iraq, invaded and wrecked. Iran in the cross-hairs. And business as usual in Israel-Palestine.
I don't even know what 'Islamization' means w/ respect to the efforts to assimilate other large minorities into a host country. I would assume this process is exacerbated by the fact that we are at war w/ the Arab-Islamic world (colonialism/imperialism: propping up human garbage for leaders in Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, etc. and the usual song and dance, divide and conquer).
Here's a picture of what I would think is '[insert your religion here]-ization':

Do those people lose control of that property, after 9/11?
So, how did the Islamic whatever obtain the rights to build there? Is Burlington Coat Factory going to protest too?The building, which was damaged by the fuselage of one of the hijacked planes, is at 45 Park Place - just two blocks from Ground Zero.
It formerly housed a Burlington Coat Factory store. The store's two selling floors were destroyed when the landing gear from one of the planes tore through them during the attacks.
You're right though, I would consider that Ground Zero, but not in the same vein as my example.
It's ok, we'll drive planes into them next September.
You know, I can understand the stupid behind the hate directed at this. I don't support it, but I can understand it. Its just misplaced anger.
Maaaaybe having the start date of construction being 9/11/11 isn't the brightest of ideas though. Just saying.
Yeah I personally don't have a problem with it and feel that anyone upset by this is jumping to the assumption that all Muslims are terrorist. Can't hold the entire group of people responsible for the actions of a few.
But then I'm just like... Really? They couldn't have picked a different date? It's like they want to piss people off. Almost troll-like.
