Oh shit I misread/didn't see the bit where they planned to build it on 9/11/11 ... !

In this case I agree with Kuro and it almost seems troll like.

Yet we only focus on one viewpoint: "They must be trollan."

What about the other viewpoint? You know, the logical one?

"It will also serve as a major platform for amplifying the silent voice of the majority of Muslims who have nothing to do with extremist ideologies."

The same viewpoint that most people exclaim, the one where we shouldn't generalize. They could be viewing this movement as sympathy for the disaster (is there a number of Muslims killed during the 9/11 attacks - hard to find credible sources on google), but no, because it's Islam it's gotta be tourists.

This thread would be very different if al Quaeda had attacked an animal shelter and killed 3000 cats and dogs and people wanted to build a mosque there now, and open it on the 10 year anniversary.

There was a protest over this yesterday, i bet you won't guess what happened in it!

    http://www.northjersey.com/news/opin....html?page=all

At one point, a portion of the crowd menacingly surrounded two Egyptian men who were speaking Arabic and were thought to be Muslims.

"Go home," several shouted from the crowd.

    "Get out," others shouted.

In fact, the two men – Joseph Nassralla and Karam El Masry — were not Muslims at all. They turned out to be Egyptian Coptic Christians who work for a California-based Christian satellite TV station called "The Way." Both said they had come to protest the mosque.

"I'm a Christian," Nassralla shouted to the crowd, his eyes bulging and beads of sweat rolling down his face.

But it was no use. The protesters had become so angry at what they thought were Muslims that New York City police officers had to rush in and pull Nassralla and El Masry to safety.

"I flew nine hours in an airplane to come here," a frustrated Nassralla said afterward.

The incident underscores how contentious — and, perhaps, how irrational — the debate over the mosque has become.
And for some reason there were tea partiers there with anti-tax t-shirts, ugh:

Sunday's crowd included representatives of the conservative Tea Party movement, some of them wearing anti-tax T-shirts that had nothing to do with Ground Zero, Islam or terrorism.

"We must take a stand and we must say no," shouted rally organizer Pamela Geller as the crowd roared approval. Moments later, another keynote speaker, Robert Spencer, sparked more cheers when he asked, "Are you tired of being lied to?"

Spencer, however, did not explain precisely what lies he was referring to.
Well, that about sums this up.

I flew 9 hours to NYC to protest a Mosque built near Ground Zero only to be beaten by members of my own constituency and all I got was this T-Shirt.

I never wanted to punch a women more then I did that women who lost a brother on 9/11. How the fuck do you argue with an annoying bitch who is pretty much shielded from being called out on her stupidity simply because she happen to lose a brother on 9/11? she made me rage so hard watching the proponents of Park51 pussyfooting around her.

btw the Right wing meme tomorrow morning? The Radical Imam threaten violence will happen if they don't build mosque right there.

I love this picture so much I want to take it behind the middle school gym and get it pregnant. They have somehow managed to caricature their faces into every single ugly/covetous jew cartoon I have ever seen.

i think they should build some ice cream shops over there because a lot of tourists go there and when its hot ice cream would cool them down. its a real money maker for the local economy
