2010 NHL Offseason Thread

Just read on ESPN that Caps could be interested in Matthew Lombardi for 2C. Didn't see much of him this year, so any west coast people please chime in, good signing or no?

He's pretty decent as a 2C, led the Coyotes in points in the playoffs(though a lot of that is probably due to Doan getting hurt, he was looking like a beast before he went down, who knows what he could have done) and was 2nd during the regular season. My main concern would be that he's pretty meh in the faceoff circle.

Phoenix would probably be hurting if they lose both Stempniak and Lombardi, sucks for them b/c almost all their major FAs aside from Wolski, Hanzal, and Lepisto are UFAs and not RFAs, and they probably can't be tossing out huge contracts with their ownership situation still in limbo.

The Blackhawks will open their preseason slate with a matchup against the Tampa Bay Lightning at the MTS Centre in Winnipeg on Wednesday, September 22 at 7:00 P.M. Chicago then battles their Central Division rival, the Detroit Red Wings on Friday, September 24 at Joe Louis Arena, before hosting Detroit for the 2010 preseason opener at the United Center on Saturday, September 25. The Blackhawks travel to Pittsburgh to face off against the Penguins at the brand-new Consol Energy Center on Tuesday, September 28, and the St. Louis Blues at Scottrade Center on Thursday, September 30. Chicago rounds out the preseason schedule by hosting Pittsburgh on Friday, October 1, and St. Louis on Sunday, October 3 at the United Center.
