Halak is an RFA and it seems like MTL was not planning on retaining him, so they shipped him for some return rather than nothing.

Only surprise to me was ZERO contact between MTL/Halak once season ended. Only contact was J Martin phoning Halak today to say, U r traded.

Ugh. I really hate this Halak trade, but it doesn't surprise me at all. Price better grow a set and learn to tend instead of letting his emotions tend.

Are Eller and Schultz even any good? From random comments I've seen around the net, he's shown some primose. Schultz is purely an enforcer pickup.

Holy shit at the Central now...Blue still suck but Halak at least makes them somewhat respectable. Hawks will have Niemi (hopefully) or Huet (lol...), Detroit has Howard, Columbus has Mason, and Nashville has Rinne. This is a stacked division with goaltending now...gonna make for some interesting divisional games.

I think this will actually be the most interesting thing to watch for next year, to see who if anyone between Halak/Niemi/Rask/Rinne is going to fizzle after having monster 09-10 seasons/playoffs.

Canucks fans always crucify the captain after the team doesn't win the Stanley Cup. It happened with Naslund and it happened with Luo. It honestly doesn't matter who management gives the C to imo.

Well aside from the fact that a goalie still technically can't be a captain...they may as well make it Kesler since he's the one who has to deal with the refs anyways.
