I want to say it has plenty of (newer) NIN in there as well, with the evasive-tanking and positioning.

Second Wind Formula is now something like:
193 + ((Rank -6) * 5)
Dunno what's the cap but I'm getting a 5 HP increase every level atm. Stats seem to have no effect.
Edit: On Main Class that is, testing on other classes later
At glad 10/phy15 my second wind heals 171hp.
I had a 6HP increase from 208HP at 9PUG to 214 at 10PUG so your formula might need adjustment.
I was also getting 167HP pretty consistently on LNC at 8/9
Yeah I just realized the HP changes every 10 levels or so... but whatever! Was just a guideline because in beta Second Wind (Chakra name was better yo') was really random.
Is it me or does haymaker have like the smallest window of opportunity? I have trouble getting it off after an evade let alone paying attention full time to see if I evaded or the mob did.
Also Second wind+Bloodbath is just clutch :D
It's more forgiving than it used to be. Proc abilities like that are meant to be twitch, that's the point of Pug over, say Mara.
It's fine leaving a short window, even smaller would be fine. But they should help you better visualize when an Evade happens. Like making the Haymaker button shine for half a second when you can use it would be perfect.
Jarring Strike is more forgiving than Haymaker, and its also better cause of Stun.
My problem is that if you don't use it RIGHT AFTER the evade you lose your chance and the problem is I'm in the middle of a long animation for like Trunksplitter or Conc blow or a flurry of Heavy Strikes and by time I que up haymaker the mob hit me again and my opportunity is gone.
So because of that reason I don't see myself using it although with Featherfoot which I just got(increases evasion and fades when you evade an attack) I might be able to setup it more often depending how well it works.
haymaker still activates for me even if i mash it at the beginning of my WS anmimation
you just have to spam the button when evade shows up on your char
It sucks that even if you do hit the Haymaker key quick enough, if the animation doesn't start before the window is closed, it's no good.
Anyone else working on getting a better weapon? I am leveling my crafts to make the level 13 weapon before I do anything else because I am missing WAAAAAAAAAAY too much and it sucks because missing a bloodbath tp move and having to heavy strike with it on for 100 hp less of healing happens too often.
Also I am finding that other then the start of a fight, featherfoot seems to be too much of stamina(or whatever its called I forget) sink to use really, anyone else play with it yet?
Also I think the level 10 lancer ability Speed Surge which is basically drain samba is worth getting after seeing how good it can be duoing with a lancer.
My setup is currently this for level 12.
Heavy Strike
Conc Blow
Trunksplitter
Second Wind
Bloodbath
Cure
Featherfoot
What is everyone else using?
You can't use Speed Surge or Life Surge unless you have a polearm equipped.
Just buy the Dodoskin Cesti from the NPC once you reach optimal level for it. After that, your pretty depend on market to play nice with your wallet.
I tend to use it when fighting several mobs at once. If you evade an attack from the adds, you can use the opportunity to use Jarring Strike or Haymaker on the main mob. Also I am finding that other then the start of a fight, featherfoot seems to be too much of stamina(or whatever its called I forget) sink to use really, anyone else play with it yet?
Punishing Barbs is pretty awsome to use in leve's when you get hate or several adds on you. What is everyone else using?
Damn dodoskin cesti are expensive to repair.
I was able to repair them at like rank 8 leatherworker. A NPC in gridania sells the spetches for 960 gil each, and repairing them yourself completely replenishes the durability rather than setting it to 75%.
Edit: Currently, my setup is Concussive Blow/Second Wind/Ferocity/Bloodbath/Cure/3 more I switch out depending on the situation.
Featherfoot/Jarring Strike if I'm fighting greens or blues, otherwise I don't evade enough and just waste slots/stamina
Skewer/Seismic Shock if I'm fighting multiple mobs
Trunksplitter if I'm fighting single enemies or plants
I was looking at the abilities later on and if our most powerful attack requires us to evade an attack then I see our ability to provide damage in a group dependent on if we are tanking or not.
I think its still too early to say how well other classes can tank but based on how vit does very little and armor is following the same trend in FFXI then I see us being at least on the same page as MNK tanks were on FFXI(nothing hitting too hard or fast but XP/dyna mobs).
It will make for a good solo class but a strong DD in a party situation will depend on how our other abilities compare to the other DD classes who don't have that restriction.
