I really can't stress enough how disappointing that is. I've been to all of the zones already, and aside from the music in Mor Dhona the whole experience was less exhilarating than my first trip to the dunes in XI. Looking forward to grinding to 40 in the same extremely bland looking zone is nothing short of depressing.
    Totally agreed.

Yet there are three regions to level in. Of course if you want to have a bland experience, just stick to that one area

For most level ranges of FFXI there were/are only three or so places to level. But it's not the same three every time. It's fine now, but will it be later?

The annoying part is that Thanalan near the Black Shroud looks any different than the rest of Thanalan. You're gonna have a super huge zone? Awesome. Don't make it 95% the same throughout, though. Might as well as had different zones, then.

Obviously when they're done with the vanilla we'll have more places to level in. 5 regions are yet to be released.

Okay? The issue is with things right now. As large as the zones are, they could certainly handle people leveling from 1-30+. That's good. That it's in the same place? Not so good.

At least it's realistic to have your pick of any of the 3 zones as travel is pretty easy.

Humanoid NPCs, they are too overtuned compared to every other mob in the game

Anima regening way too slow to be able to do anything after a few days sucks also

Yet you won't run out of stuff to do anytime soon.
They could easily make a games with 1000% more contents if increasing a level caps, and adding more quests with the same objective count as "content".

Macro? linkshell? That's some badass content...Class quests is the only thing that add some variety so far, because everything else is played exactly like it is in the closed beta. The only difference is the 3 flavors you get, but in the end, it's all the same.

All they had to do was put different textures in each zone, give them their own name, and they would have tripled the number of zones in the game in Thanalan alone.

    Instead it's just 5 enormous, copy-pasted regions.

I'm never ordering from Play.com again. Mail just came today and the damn CE still hasn't arrived. Guess that's what happens when you use a company that offers free shipping.

lol, you're already making me regret choosing Ul'Dah. It felt cool/fresh/new during my short time playing Open Beta, but I actually wish I'd gone to Limsa now.

Desert everywhere will start to bug me...

Then you'd just be saying "mountains everywhere will start to bug me" or "forest everywhere will start to bug me"

My only complaint is where are all the mobs at? The zones are large enough to house more mobs outside of leve mobs. I need to kill MOAR MOBS! :D

What really bothers me is that when you look at Thanalan's map. You notice how it is split into four sub-zones each with its own camp. You would think each of these areas would mostly be populated with mobs according to the level of the nearby camp. Yet it's not, it seems like at most only half of the Black Brush area is filled with mobs a 1-10 could kill. Wander too far south east and get raped by a Peiste, Inferno Drake, or Beastman.

Same goes for Drybone, there's the dodos around it, and then nothing much unless you somehow find a empty cave to grind in. Yet if you wade through the endless IT petrocs and Aldgoats, you find more level appropriate dodos.

It seems like they barely put any thought into populating the areas with level appropriate mobs. Not mention the zones are so sparsely populated to begin with, which doesn't help the situation.

lol, content is content. You won't run out of it anytime soon, and that's already better than what any new MMO has offered in a long time.

Sure they may have few instances but no lasting appeal.

But you were going to wait half a year or more anyway (good idea)? What are you doing here then? Trolling? Second thoughts?
