For a while I was actually saving all my Maple Logs and then I realized there was no syrup recipe in the game so I vendored them.

Eeehhh? There is a syrup recipe and it is the maple variety. It just doesn't use maple logs. Maple Sap is the item used to synth Maple Syrup, and it can be found from grade 1 harvesting points in Gridania with Botany.
