I might be getting a used laptop from my sister and want to put in a good graphics card for it since it has whatever default shitty card it came with.
Any suggestions?

What laptop is it? And since it's your sister's there's a 98% probability you will not be able to do so.
EDIT: http://www.bluegartr.com/forum/showthread.php?t=88550 <-- this was posted not too long ago too, someone did suggest somewhat of an external thing.
it's a toshiba satellite a135 would FFXI be able to run on it?
intel 72080 (dual core) 1.73ghz
display adapter: mobile intel 945 express chipset family
ram was upgraded from 1g to 2g
Yep FFXI will run on it, just don't pump up the settings via regedits etc
There's a taru named butters around this forum who posted on his blog (i can't find a link right now) who runs ffxi on a netbook with an Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950 (which is the same one found on this particular Toshiba, I've looked it up), so this will be fine. You've got 2gb RAM which is important so you're all set.
ok then, thanks alot.
Buttons! Love his screenshots.

Oh! Sorry I keep thinking it's Butters. Yeh that's the blog/site I was referring to, thanks Baelorn!
Wait.. Buttons runs on a laptop using GMA950 and he gets that kind of graphic quality?! Inconceivable!
He can get that kind of quality look yes, but his FPS are around 9-10...
This is correct. I run on a slightly buffed up (similar) netbook with readyboost also (Win7Ult) and achieve around;
20-23 in parties.
29 when alone/not looking at any players.
11-15 at WG AH/Dragon Aery.
I only use it when I'm in the kitchen or living room. So its really pointless to play on it otherwise unless you must.
