Yeah that cliffhanger when we didn't know if we'd get more was bullshit.
It's official !! Fox has ordered 10 more episodes.
Production on The X-Files is set to begin in summer, with the new episodes airing sometime during the 2017-2018 season.

FUCK YES
So hyped. The Warelizard episode last season was so good. Can't wait
Wow I was not expecting this. Pleasantly surprised. I do hope it's a bit more serialized for such a limited run this time instead of having 3/10 episodes move the plot forward

Highlights:
Season 10's episode limitations were more due to the schedules of Duchovny and Anderson than Fox's episode limits.
Season 11 was essentially greenlit when Season 10 was.
They acknowledge the "mythology" episodes were a huge shortcoming, and hope to fix that with 7 or 8 episodes with that focus in Season 11.
Vince Gilligan open to return to write.
Annabeth Gish thought to be returning as well. No word on Robert Patrick, or the agents who play Miller and Einstein (please, no).
But we had a worldwide epidemic culminating in a UFO appearing over the city to abduct Mulder. Where the fuck can you go from there? It can't return to business as usual...
I agree lol
I just dont understand how every episode isn't a mythos episode after that.

Good News:
Annabeth Gish is back.
Veronica Cartwright (Cassandra Spender), Chris Owens (Jeffrey Spender), Dean Haglung (Langley), and William Davis also return.
Karen Konoval (the mother from the Home episode that never re-aired due to content) will be back playing multiple roles in an episode.
The season will have emphasis on the search for William.
Bad News:
Only 2 mythology episodes. However, there will be episodes dedicated to Skinner and Cancer Man detailing both their backstory and what happened to them in the years between season 9 and 10.
Einstein + Miller will return.
No Krychek or the remaining of the Lone Gunman are known to be involved.
Neutral:
Barbara Hershey and Haley Joel Osmet will join the cast.
I'm actually really excited to have Chris Owens back. He is really good, and it will be interesting to see where they take Spender after his appearance in season 9.
Who are the "remaining" Gunmen? Or are the comics considered canon (I didn't even know they made those or what they ended up doing with the Gunmen until 5 minutes ago when trying to refresh my memory on what originally happened)? Otherwise I would guess Langly is part of the back stories with Skinner and Cancer Man (which I guess they could do with Krychek too if they had wanted to, but maybe he wasn't available)No Krychek or the remaining of the Lone Gunman are known to be involved.
Ugh I need to go on an X-Files binge and marathon all the mythology episodes and maybe a few random monster eps thrown in for fun :D
My body is ready for tonight!
Frohike and Byers? They "died" in Season 9 as a pseudo finale to the Lone Gunmen spinoff show after being cancelled.
There was much hype in them returning in Season 10, but ended up being part of a trip where Mulder took mushrooms.
I actually had the chance to speak to Nicholas Lea (Krycek) before S10 and he said point blank that Fox or Carter never even approached him or invited him back...so his character likely did die in S8 when Skinner shot him.
I was just hoping that since S11 is supposed to be about the search for William, it would be cool to have Krycek playing both sides.
And yes my body is so ready for tonight.
