New Characters Detailed for Season 6

The first is a male character in his 30s referred to as Jaco, who is described “as a silent mercenary,” intelligent and physically strong. His intelligence is said to be apparent when he speaks. Jaco will be joined by another mercenary called Pax. Aside from being the youngest of the two, Pax will have “a humorous streak” similar to Lance Hunter.

Mercenaries won’t be the only danger the S.H.I.E.L.D. team will be facing, for a new female character named Butterfly will be as lethal as she is unpredictable and aloof. Along with this 20-something year old character, the show will also be adding an older genius and teacher currently called Professor L. Despite having a positive view of humanity, the Professor “is disgruntled, bitter, and a mess of a person.”

As expected, the team will also gain some new allies. One new friend to our heroes is Agent Damon, a “handsome, likable, cool, and funny” member of S.H.I.E.L.D.

While Clark Gregg is listed as returning for season 6 despite how season 5 ended for him he's not listed as returning for season 7

I thought S6 was officially going to be the last one. Or did they split S06 in half to make 6 + 7?

Don't get me wrong, I'm happy if they renewed it for a 7th season despite them saying S06 was going to be the last, it gives hope for a S8 or 9 as well, I'm just surprised.

They really shot a creative wad last season with all the callbacks thinking it was going to be the final season + Coulson’s exit + lead up to Infinity War. Gonna be a tough sled to overcome that I think. But I’m hopeful.

Well, a seventh season does make sense, it could act as an introduction to the new Marvel phase since this one ends with Avengers 4 (I believe?).

Sure, but does not necessarily take place during the next phase. It mainly takes place after A4 so that they don't have to deal with the complications of half of the people being dead.

Gregg is back on the show, but he is not portraying Phil Coulson. Coulson is, indeed, dead after last season finale. Gregg is playing a new character.

I assume it's either just a Skrull, LMD, or some sort of cloning process. Love Clark Gregg but wouldn't mind if they just let him die off finally.
