not a hurricane, but SE MN got some pretty crazy flash flooding yesterday. fiancee and i drove home through it. we were able to make it out of the leading edge and then eventually outpace the storm.

I hope NC beefed up housing laws to protect from hurricanes cause florida looks at that cat 4 and is like "bring it bitch". I drove a bit thru NC in my younger years and I don't want to think about those hills and mountainous roads during hurricane force winds and rains. Snow was rough enough, I cant imagine flash floods.

The latest model looks really bad. Shit went from 0-100 and decided to jump to cat 4 in no time with nothing but warm waters ahead of it still. Latest model has a 32" rainfall. Thats probably going to be low, storm surge is going to be stupid, Carolina's and north of them are going to get fucked.
Get out BG'ers that will get a direct hit, Florence could hit 5.
This doesn't look very good.
Yea, fucking evacuate, shit ain't gonna be pretty at all. Please be safe everyone in Carolinas.
But leave a camera set up before you go.
FL native checking in to warn any Carolina BGers or if you have family there—Flo ain’t nothing to fuck with. Get out while you still can and have a way to get out.
Aunt Flo is coming. Everyone run!
Im in Raleigh hopefully far enough inland, idk if we have any eastern NC folks but stay safe peeps
I'm just south of Raleigh. Lived here when Fran came through and fucked shit up. problem with this one is it's going to basically stall out right over us going 3-5mph. Central NC is basically projected to be kinda fucked or completely fucked but fucked no matter where it goes.
I live in the bottom of an apartment complex, so I'm not worried about the wind. that rain though...if it tracks straight to us some areas are projected to get over 50" of rain. Now I could take the fam to my parents house here where the flooding wouldn't be as much of issue, but they have 90 huge pine trees around the house. went from 112 to 90 when Fran came through.
so ya. fuck.

Reports are one meter has it at a Cat 5 already they are just waiting to post it until they do this next pass to make sure.
It's never happened that a cat 5 remained sustained into landfall this far out but it could strengthen, weaken, stall out and strengthen or weaken again. The only storm to break the 72hr mark was in 1932, Irma was 60hrs. We are in that hundred year storm era it seems though.
We were planning of going to Ocean City, Myrtle Beach, or Charleston for a baby moon in the next few weeks to month... Wonder if prices will drop when its flattened.
South Carolina governor has ordered mandatory evacuations for all coastal counties.
State of Emergency declared in Virginia, looking at these forecast maps and am not comfortable with how close to DC this thing is gonna get.
