they are in a much more interesting position than the typical worst team in the NBA getting a great young player. they are nowhere near the worst team in the NBA and have one of the most attractive trade pieces in league history. they sure don't deserve it but when has deserve ever had anything to do with it.

i'd go for it even if they keep Conley for the remaining couple years. not many players i'd rather have Ja learn defense and decision making from than Conley. he and Jaren Jackson Jr are both 19 and complimentary players it feels like a good fit.
