it's random. Not everyone gets the same GP item.
Random? Everyone with the same rank gets the same item for GP. I probably spent somewhere around 400k for glasses (rough estimate) and saving up for body now.

Everyone at the same craft rank doing the same craft is asked for same item though.
But yeah, for each and ever rank there are different stuff, and some days
are cheap while others are very expensive..
Changes every day as well after midnight, Japan.
Like I got asked for a Vermillion cloak.... for 7k CP roughly -.-
7,000GP for a Vermillion? You shitting me? ROFL
Well, I guess the GP items wouldn't really care about the going rate of the ingredients, just the sellback price to an NPC.Originally Posted by Sadler
I doubt that the designers intended Damascene Cloth to go for millions of gil, they probably expected them go go for a few hundred thousand. Even then, it would still be a bit of a rip off.
Needless to say, I skipped that whole day
First off, the crafting ranks are:
Amateur > Recruit > Initiate > Novice > Apprentice > Journeyman > Craftsman > Artisan > Master > Veteran
Each day you will be given an item to turn in for a rank that is either at or below your current rank. Your turn in rank increases one rank each day until it hits your current one, at which point it starts back at amateur. Every turn in rank has a small set of possible items that can be required. Everyone regardless of rank that is on the same turn in rank for the day is given the same item.
Here is a very useful site, although I only use them to see how many it takes to max out an item for the day. They have posted the wrong items a few times, check the guild union guy before buying:

Anyway, what the above is leading to is some advice. The amateur rank item is normally junk, and takes too many to max out at a low total for the day, recruit is typically the same. I normally don't turn in these items unless I can NPC buy them. Initiate through Apprentice are normally the best GP/gil rates, and journeyman and craftsman have a few good ones as well. For ranks above that there aren't really any items cheap enough to justify turn ins to my knowledge.
I estimate my shaded specs cost me around 300k, and I stick with a 6 Gil/GP or less to turn in items for the day. Check the AH and check what npc's sell items and ingredients for items, a good source of this is:

Since they changed the guild point itmes, Titanicus can be wrong sometimes. I perfer to use the FF recipie database to look up guild point items.
But I still do not trust FF Recipie 100% anymore.
never been asked for vermillion cloak. must be new since 2/24 patch.
leathercrafters get sonic belt requests from time to time.
