The iPad 4 has the same thickness and weight as the iPad 3. I don't see any reason to upgrade (it's not like the iPad 3 is slow)

The iPad mini is interesting. It's half as heavy as the bigger iPad and 20% thinner. Don't know how the A5 chip can hold up, and its probably a tiny bit overpriced, but I really like the form factor.

I have an iPad 2 and if I break it Best Buy will give me a gift card for however much I paid for it.

Should I upgrade to the 4, or hope there's another one coming in six months again? I have until July. I was going to do it for the iPad 4, but this isn't a significant upgrade over the 3, which wasn't a significant upgrade over the 2 except for the retina display.

One thing to keep in mind is that the iPad 3 (and 4) is a tiny bit heavier and thicker than the iPad 2.

It depends on of you play a lot of graphically intensive games I guess but to me form factor vs retina display is debatable.

I use the iPad more of a content consumption device, so I prefer form factor over graphics.

Seeing as how they are still going for 400ish on ebay, I might toss my Ipad3 up on ebay and have a friend at verizon hold an ipad4 for me (if they even get any wifi ones, not sure I want a 4g one.)

It's no longer available on their website and likely will be discontinued through retail stores.

Looks like I'm getting a Nexus 7 this year. Was being naive assuming an iPad Mini would be more competitive (outside of its superior appstore) than that, but at that price you may as well pay a little more and get an iPad2, or a used iPad3.

No arguments here, but for what I need out of a tablet, Nexus 7 will more than suit me fine for now at the price it's being offered. This is also the first iPad Mini, the next iteration might sweeten the deal more for my needs. But on the size note, really, 32gb should be the minimum these days, particularly with how SSDs are shaping up on the consumer end of things.

32gb Nexus 7 for $249 hits in a week. And better resolution? How is 1028 x 768 for 163ppi better than the 7's 1280 x 800 for 216 ppi?

The Nexus 7 has great hardware... And recently on my Transformer Pad I've noticed that the Android tablet apps are improving rapidly, although they're not quite there yet.

Give Android another year, the app quality should fully catch up to iOS apps then.

Not to turn this in to an Android vs iOS debate, but I really do not think Android can outpace or match iOS in the next year. Apple has reached out to so many outlets of business (Schools, Corporations, Government, hoes on the street). Product development for most start up companies focuses more on iOS since they attribute the short term success of their apps to accessibility. People consume apple products at a higher rate than they do non-Apple products, Android will always be an after thought.
