FFRK - The Planet Trembles (VII) Event & Strategies

    Bells, frogs, big cherries.
    Peter Pan, magic cheese.

    SEPHIROTH!

"I've thought of a wonderful present for you... Shall I give you dis pear?" - xXxSeffrothxXx

"This sword is a symbol of our family's dreams and honor." - Angeal

Sephiroth is intelligent and respects those he deems worthy—he considers Professor Gast Faremis a great scientist, but scorns Professor Hojo. Well-spoken and graceful, Sephiroth is calm, collected, and in control, and he has a dry sense of humor. Rarely, he can be frustrated and caught off-guard. As the strongest SOLDIER alive, Sephiroth is confident to the point of arrogance. Despite this, he has no interest in personal fame or glory, as he tells Genesis, who envies Sephiroth's reputation as a hero, that he can have it.

Following his fall into insanity, Sephiroth retains most of his personality traits, but becomes murderous, ruthless, and vengeful. He develops a messiah complex, proclaiming he is "the chosen one" destined to lead the Planet. He becomes sadistic, as he enjoys mentally torturing Cloud. Sephiroth is devoted to Jenova and its cause, even though its body serves as little more than his avatar.

    Relics

This is one of the few good banners (Bartz a while ago and Quinoa coming up) that stands out before the next fest. It also enjoyed an end of month boost in JP. You've probably been saving 100 or so mythril for some chances here, and it should be well worth it.

The big trade-off being the lack of +element items.

Aside from the necessary fanfare that comes with people hopefully completing their Angeal once again with his new burst, this is a strong physical dark and magical fire banner with Vincent's chain 2.0.

Banner 2 is more than just a dumping grounds of re-treads this time, carrying Aerith's coveted USB, Yuffie's potent water USB, and updated tech for Caith Sith and Barret.

    Future Event Banner Comparison:

There is not another FFVII event to date in Japan, keeping in mind this one came in an extended absence of any VII event before it.

Important items are likely to reoccur on fest banners (Cloud and Aerith especially), but if you need VII specific gear this is your chance.

    Element Boosts:
    Spoiler: show
    Banner 1:
    • Dark: Sephiroth Arcane, BSB2

    Banner 2:
    • Holy: Aerith USB

    Ultra EX/Chase Type Glossary:
    Spoiler: show
    Rules of thumb:
    1. Stat buffs from the EX mode have a unique ID and will stack with everything.
    2. Many USB’s come with a built in class damage boost. These are separate from the iteration class boosts and do stack.
    3. EX modes last 15 seconds, while buffs provided by the USB entry last 25 seconds. (Terra is an exception, with her EX Mode lasting 25 seconds).

    Special Effects:
    • General Boost: These can be anything specifically tied to the EX Mode - HP Stock, Crit Fix, Cast Speed, Element Boost, Stat buffs, and even Break Damage Limit. This will stack with every other buff on the user, including other EX Modes.
    • Rank Boost: This provides a damage boost scaling with the rank of the ability used. The boost starts out at ~5% for R1 increasing to ~30% for R5+.
    • Class Boost: This provides a flat damage boost for a specific class of abilities (Knight, Black Magic, etc). Generally weaker than the Rank Boost at ~15-20%, but applies to all abilities under that class - including Burst commands.
    • Chase: Follow up attack(s) triggered by using abilities of a specific element or school while under the EX Mode. The number of these chase attacks can be random, reliant on the rank of the ability used (Rank Chase) or status of the user (Status Chase).
    • Cycle: Unit receives a quickcast or instacast charge when using abilities tied to a specific element or school – generally meant to be used in repetition for maximum effect.
    • Build Up: A gradient damage boost toward a specific ability school based on the number of ability uses from the start of the battle to when the EX mode is applied. This buff is not tied to EX mode duration, and will persist whenever the EX mode is active.
    • Wind Up/Finisher: Generally applying to Summoners, this will provide additional damage based on the sum total of all type (class or element) damage done during EX mode when the mode expires. The unique aspect of this is that a recast of the USB will count toward the exit damage of the previous EX mode.
    • Phantom Cast: This effect will auto cast an attack every few second at a set rate independent of the character. The number of attacks or potency is not reliant on any outside factors (Haste, Slow, QC) and will generally produce 4 actions per EX Mode.
    • Cheer: This will grant a party wide effect after using a triggering ability. For example, Marche will triple the cast speed of every front row party member (himself included) for 1 turn after he uses a Knight ability.
    • Ability Double: This will guarantee that an ability will cast 2 times per use at the cost of 2 hones. The first cast can trigger appropriate W-Cast materia for a total of 3 hits, but the additional hits will not generate SB gauge.

    Banner 1:

Sephiroth is the big target here, joining Decil in the ranks of top tier physical dark users.

Starting with his USB, Seph hits for 15x ST dark ranged hits, en-dark, Crit Fix of 50%, and EX Mode 'Legendary Soldier' - granting the ability for dark elemental attacks to deal overflow damage and will boost dark damage by 30% after every 2 dark element attacks. This is important for timing, as you can potentially deal overflow damage with his new...

AOSB! 20x ST dark physical hits followed by 1x ST dark overflow hit.

His glint, sadly, isn't as strong as Decil's. Granting 15 seconds of fastcast and all dark element attacks will drain 10% damage dealt. On paper it is great, but Seph's USB is keyed to be the opposite of Terra's in that his EX mode lasts for 25 seconds but the USB entry caps it at 15. So it then becomes a balancing act of potency vs time between timing dark element attack recasts and USB re-entry timing or choosing the Glint.

Vincent gains the magical 2.0 fire chain. He also gains a true hybrid BSB, dealing 8x NAT fire/non damage with a party fire Radiant Shield. All commands are NAT/Darkness school, with C1 dealing hybrid 4x ST fire/non damage and C2 dealing 3x fire/non damage with Fastcast x2.

Angeal joins the BSB meta with 8x ST holy/wind damage and a party crit fix of 50%. Both commands are Knight and run off a toggle. C1 is the toggle switch, granting fastcast 3x when off, and dealing 6x ST holy/wind with +crit damage when on - and then shifts to off. C2 is 4x ST holy/wind damage and grants an additional hit when the toggle is on.

    Returning Items:

    Sephiroth: BSB2
    Cloud: USB, Glint, BSB2
    Vincent: BSB

    Banner 2:

Pretty good for a Banner 2, honestly. Better than some recent (and upcoming) events' Banner 1.

Barret joins the USB game, dealing 15x random fire/wind hits with Def/Res Crush and a party CT0.

Cait brings an AoE Full Breakdown with his USB, and is now the resident realm slot saver with pro/shell/haste.

    Returning Highlights:

    Aerith: USB2
    Yuffie: USB2

    Legend Materias:
    • B1 - Vincent: Small chance to w-cast fire element abilities.
    • B1 - Sephiroth: Begin the battle with en-dark.
    • B1 - Cloud: Moderate chance to gain fastcast x1 when using wind element abilities.
    • B1 - Cloud: Small chance to w-cast wind element abilities.

    • B2 - Cait Sith: Begin the battle with Fastcast x3.
    • B2 - Barret: Deal slightly more damage with a gun-arm equipped.
    • B2 - Aerith: Small chance to w-cast White Magic abilities.
    • B2 - Yuffie: Small chance to gain P.Blink x1 after using Ninja abilities.
    • B2 - Cid: Deal slightly more jump damage with a spear equipped.

Sephiroth has started to cast Super Nova. You have 3 days to make yourself a sandwich.

    Ultimate + Apocalypse Battles
    The Turks
    凶Reno, Rune, and Elena
    HP: Reno: 100,000 - Rude: 120,000 - Elena: 110,000
    Target Score:
    • Defeat the Turks with 3 or more heroes not KO'ed.

    Weak: None
Absorb: Reno: Fire - Rude: Lightning - Elena: Ice
    Resist: None
    Null: None
    Status Vulnerabilities: Poison

Notes: Unlike previous Turk fights, you will have to clear out all 3 for a win.

Reno: Mostly physical, weak AoE magic.
Rude: Mostly magic, token ST physical hit.
Elena: Physical. Can also AoE/ST Confuse and Sap.

Probably a good idea to employ dancers over a ST support user. Elena carrying Confuse should make her your first target. Do note the low HP values for everyone here and no weak phases, AoE damage can have this fight end quick.

    Proud Clod +
    凶Proud Clod w/Jammar Armor
HP: Proud Clod: 250,000 - Jammar Armor: 130,000
    Target Score:
    • Defeat Proud Clod with at least 3 characters not KO'ed.

Weak: Proud Clod (after Jammar Armor defeat): Lightning, Dark
    Absorbs: None
    Resists: None
    Null: None
    Vulnerabilities: None

Notes: Proud Clod initially starts out 80% resistant to breaks and no weaknesses. Very similar to previous fights, honestly. He is 100% physical with auto-hit gravity attacks.

Ultimate Beam Cannon will deal 50% HP damage with dispel on turn 2 and then every 6 turns after so keep your buffs at bay for a minute.

Because this is similar to other Proud Clod fights in mechanics, in this version with the lowered HP you can potentially power through without killing Jammar Armor by using a healing BSB to bypass reflect.

Acolyte Archive: Nothing really specific is required for this fight aside from a healer - so you'll want Aerith or Cait.

Rufus and Dark Nation (Apoc +)
    滅Rufus (w/Dark Nation)
    HP: Rufus: 300,000 - Dark Nation: 250,000
    Target Score:
    • Defeat Rufus and Dark Nation with 2 or more heroes not KO'ed.

    Weak: None
    Absorbs: None
    Resist: None
    Null: None
    Vulnerabilities: None

Notes: 100% physical fight. Dark Nation carries auto-hit gravity damage and Rufus brings back the lovely Mako Cannon spam...so pack up those physical breaks.

Dark Nation carries some status (Sap, Slow, Dispel) but they are all ST. He will also use Ultimate Barrier on Rufus at the start of the fight, so you'll want a dispel yourself.

Deal with Dark Nation and then unload with the SB's on Rufus. You don't want him lasting long as Mako Cannon spam can and will wipe you. You can carry fire resist accessories if you're not worried about Slow as some of Rufus' attacks are fire element, but Mako Cannon carries no element.

    Sephiroth (Apoc ++)
    滅Sephiroth
    HP: 600,000
    Target Score:
    • Defeat Sephiroth with 2 or more heroes not KO'ed.

    Weak: None
    Absorbs: None
    Resist: None
    Null: None
    Vulnerabilities: None

Notes: This is a familiar fight, but one we have not had for a while. The only magical hit pierces res, so you can ignore Shellga. You'll want to mitigate some of that magical damage though through breaks.

Managing phase shifts are the trick here; at every 20% interval Seph will use Flashing Blade (2x AoE defense piercing) and then Scintilla (damage, self Haste). Watch the HP bar, and don't worry about the Haste because he is already over speed cap.

The inbetween phases don't hurt as much, but after 80% he can begin using a piercing magical attack in Ultimate Shadow Flare.

Acolyte Archive: Cait and Barret can help a lot here with the stacking breaks on their respective movesets.

Having an instant medica can help you recover the phase transitions, but you may be better off holding damage and managing those transitions to recover if you can't handle the output. Without a weakness or resist, you can still take advantage of potent element hits like Yuffie w/Ninja. If you can manage the setup and get lucky, it is possible to skip some phase transitions with Cloud or Sephiroth USB/ASB. Seph also becomes a beast in trance mode with his USB.

Been playing this game since launch, and I have been lucky enough, with all my FFVII pulls, to NEVER have pulled a single Barret relic - I have a feeling that luck will end tonight, with the 2nd banner.

    Edit: Nope, but no aerith.

    I went in with;
99 Zach - Ripping Blast, Lifesiphon - knights charge (partial dive, but no LMs, just the speed boosts)
    99 Aerith - U. Cure, hastega - BSB1 - mako might
99 cloud - tornado strike, lifesiphon - USB - ace striker (full dive)
    99 cait sith - tango, jitterbug - bsb1, pro/shell/regen ssb
    99 seph - dread weapon, lifesiphon - usb2, bsb2 - battleforged (full dive)

everyone with Earth Resist armor (initially took Slow resist, but only one person would get hit regardless) and earth resist helped for the last bit of Earth only attacks.

startd with the 3 DDs lifesiphoning the right wing until they each had a soulbreak ready to go...
Aerith would open with RW:Divine Grimoire then single target heal until Stigma Stigma then BSB. Cait would open with BSB, then dance, dance.

once SBs were ready, Zach started up the chain, Cloud USBs the LEFT wing, Seph USBs the RIGHT wing.

Zach would continue to lifesiphon the right wing until a new gage was built.
Cloud would us Tornado strike to hit everything with overflow damage (0 damage on the right wing), repop after 3rd tornado strike.
Seph would dread weapon overstrike the right wing.
    Aerith cure as needed.
Ciat dance, pop SSB with next gauge, and repop grimoire as the chain was dropping.

the wings die about the same time, depending on how many double procs cloud gets, once dead, everyone quickly dispatches the core, then on to the head, somewhere in here Seph needs to use BSB2 for the 2x shield, then ride cmd1 the rest of the fight.

in the end, everyone but Seph was dead since the head eventually just started one-shotting everyone with that earth attack... but if you notice, although the mastery conditions say to win with 3x people alive, there are no mastery rewards, so... it doesn't really matter.

I would never in a million years have thought that protect/shell ssbs would be making a legit comeback, but here we are.

No doubt, I took Rude to FFVII Torment 2.0, but only because of his Pro/Shell/Last Stand SSB, and Dispel - it's not helping me for D??? though, a BSB1-only Aerith can only heal so much... even with lucky double procs, and follow up LMRs.

For Bizarro Seph, I only used Caits SSB to over-write bio/poison, since later stages involved lots of 'leaving people with 1HP' nonsense. I wanted to make sure when we got into this stage that no one was poisoned. Also, I didn't need to re-pop his BSB since Zack was handling attack-boost.
