Was looking on digg this morning and saw where GameSpy had written up some of the most worthless game achievements ever. What else can you be doing with your time?! Little did I know though FFXI was waiting for me on page two of the article.
Final Fantasy XI
Square Enix isn't into bullshit like "playing for fun," "doing things with your life," or even "pretending to work while we siphon your soul out through the controller." No, you don't get an achievement for reaching maximum level in Final Fantasy XI: You get it for reaching maximum level with each of the eighteen character classes.
It can take hundreds of hours to get even one character to Level 75 -- it would take years of your life to earn these achievements, and it obviously took Square about seven seconds to think of them. Add the fact that you're paying for the experience and you've got a deal an Internet video rentboy would laugh at from underneath a thrusting horse.

lol, they haven't fixed the unlocked relic achievement on 360 yet, i doubt they ever will. who knows what else is broken about it, and i wonder why anyone would care at this point. Its like SE upgrading the LS community beta and adding on the 3 add-on scenario data but not completing the ToAU/Captain part.

if you want gamerscore, go "rent" king kong from gamestop. play it. get all the achievements in it within a few hours, then take it back and tell them it sucks (cause it does.) lather, rinse, repeat.

360 achievements are stupid. Period. Some games you just type in a code and get 1k points instantly (Avatar?) vs something like FFXI where the same number of points comes from... anyone care to hazard a guess? How long to get the full points? 500hrs+?

I set things for me to achieve all the time ingame and none involve the fail 360 achievement system

Seriously, no one here thinks FFXI is perfect, but stupid criticism from people with their heads up their ass and an attention span that makes completing MW2's single-player campaign difficult will tend to get a negative response.
I know this might come as a shock to you, but some people actually still enjoy playing FFXI.

I'm suprised that GameSpy paid enough attention to FFXI to even notice this. To put in perspective how horrible the FFXI achievements are, I present to you a general statistical comparison.
Game: Assassin's Creed 2
Hours Played: 20 over the weekend
Achievement Points: 575
Game: FFXI
Hours Played: 4500 since 2007
Achievement Points: 150
