On the other hand, it appears that this storm has the potential to be as bad as, if not worse than katrina:

The reason this is bad? A good portion of Katrina's Damage was caused by the surge, of which NOLA took a lot.

I live right outside Beaumont (couple hours from Houston) and we were issued a mandatory evacuation yesterday. Q_Q Luckily I was already here in Dallas before the official evacuation was announced (we left really early just incase this happened) so we missed all of the traffic. We probably could have stayed though- we're on the dry side of the storm and it's a good enough distance east to not cause us too much problem. (last time I saw atleast) I want this to pass already- ready to go home. >_>

I saw a lot of stuff about it on ESPN (talking about the Saints evacuating, and people after the LSU game and so on) about people leaving, so at least some people are listening. That mess looks bad. D: Sucks it's almost three years to the week that Katrina happened.

Already, John McCain is saying his party might have to postpone the Convention. And Moore couldn't be more tickled. Responds Rep. Steve Scalise (R. Louisiana): “I demand an immediate apology from Michael Moore to the people of south Louisiana for his offensive and inappropriate comments. People in Louisiana, regardless of political affiliation, are making plans to leave to protect their families from this serious storm, and the God I know would not share Michael Moore’s glee for our plight.”

Um, yeah, Moore said an idiotic thing. But could the congressman have maybe included more people than just his constituents in his demand for an apology?
