All Worlds Maintenance (Jan. 16)



At the following time, we will be performing maintenance on all Worlds. During this period, FINAL FANTASY XI will be unavailable.

We ask that players who are scheduled to enter Assault or Salvage areas, Dynamis or Limbus at the time of the maintenance wait until it is complete before entering. Please note that we cannot replace items that are lost during the maintenance process.

* The client software will also be updated at this time. Once this maintenance is completed, the client update will start automatically after logging back into FINAL FANTASY XI. Please follow the instructions that appear on your screen.

Sunday afternoon I was doing some bard/nin tanking in the Limbus that ends with Dhalmels and Manticores.

I think there was a ninja-fix to mazurka tanking on sunday, here's why:

On the Dhalmel level our puller was pulling very quickly and there were always multiple dhalmels slept near where we were fighting. Even though I was spamming mazurka, I didn't build hate on the slept ones until I either cast an etude or other single-target song on the puller or cast something directly at the slept dhalmel. E.g. the mazurka wasn't grabbing hate from everything, just stuff I had explicitly put myself on the hate list for.

If that's really a change (someone please verify), they just made bard and /brd tanking a lot nicer for grand wyrms.

Because it's how hate works... You got to hit either the puller with Mazurka (or anything), the Dhalmel with any spell, or someone else who has hate on said mob in order to be in the hate list...

Not in Limbus, everyone is on the hate list as soon as anyone is, just like a lot of mission BCs. I've been frustrated by this repeatedly while watching Hide fail when I've had no association, direct or indirect, with a mob that someone else has attacked in Limbus.

theres a difference between being on the aggro list and being able to build hate on it. just cuz someone in your party aggros a lizard doesnt mean you spamming things on yourself is gonna take hate until you either hit the lizard or do something to the person who first attacked it.
