FFRK - Led By Fate (XIII) Event & Strategies

"We can do without their brand of mercy." - Lightning
"I, too, will challenge my fate." - Cid
"How often do l'Cie kill their own?" - Jihl

As Lightning and the others make their way through the Fifth Ark, they are surprised to find Cid Raines there. Lightning lashes out, sensing that Cid has sinister intentions, but he parries her blow easily. Cid grips Lightning’s blade in his hand, and the party sees he has been branded a l’Cie like them.

    Event Start Date: June 8
    Event Bonus Battle: June 11
    Event End Date: June 18

All information is taken from a mixture of Reddit/Spreadsheets/Kongpakbao Site and my own obviously expert analysis.

Most, if not all info for the event (Commentary/Ultimate Abilities was directly copy/pasted from it, so all credit to the site for that especially!) comes from this site: https://www.reddit.com/r/FFRecordKee...sm&sh=4a6f0c62

    Notable Rewards:
Jihl's Glasses - Accessory. MAG + 15 and Moderate Silence Resist.

    Relics
Time warping ahead about a month from the JP schedule, the banner format that persisted until JP's 30'th FF Anniversary is the banner format we are getting here.

Excluding the reversion in VI and IX now for Global, banner format for JP timeline of this event onward is:

    2xUSB/CSB/OSB, 3x BSB, 2x LM, 3x SSB, 1xSSB.
    -or-
    2x 1%, 3x 1%, 2x 1%, 3x 2%, 1x 1% = 14% 5*+ chances.
    Banner 1:
Introducing the "EX Mode" to some USB's where additional effects are procced when meeting certain conditions. Lightning gets her "Army of One" USB which is 10 Lightning/Non hits, En-Lightning and 1 Short Charge action. The EX Mode grants Atk+30% and an additional Short Charge action when using Lightning attacks and abilities, this includes normal attacks when under En-Lightning.

Cid's OSB is a gradient Dark/Holy hit based on the time left on Doom's countdown. He's better served generally using his BSB (which is also on this banner) and letting Hope handle the OSB Holy damage.

Jihl's BSB doubles down on Imperil Dark, with 9 hits of random Dark/Non entry. CMD1 gives her 4 hits of Black Magic Dark/Non damage and CMD2 is 2 AoE hits with a 20% chance to further Imperil Dark at 10% increments.

Jihl's SSB offers a realm reverse wall at ATK/MAG -50%. The rest of Cid's SB's and Serah's MAG/MND/Haste party boost also appears.

    Banner 2:
This banner is older items, but a lot of good quality.

Vanille's Ultra and BSB return, offering Astra/Pro/Shell and Instant Medica + Self Mind respectively.

Fang's OSB, BSB, and reverse wall SSB all return. Snow's BSB comes back offering a realm Last Stand.

Sazh, Noel, and Snow's SSB's come back as well. Sazh's is notable for being a party Magic Blink and party Boostga at 50%.

    Legend Materias:
Banner 1 - Lightning: 25% Chance for Lightning abilities to hit twice.
Banner 1 - Cid Raines: Buff duration +30%.
Banner 2 - Snow: Atk Boost Buildup. Atk+3%->35% on hits taken.
    Banner 2 - Vanille: 25% to follow WHM abilities with a 200% WHM Non-element attack and DEF/RES-20%.

This event will also introduce the Jump Start mode for Global FFRK. This fight is identical to the 220 Apocalypse difficulty, but you will start out with 3 SB bars for every character and only 3 SB bars. No additional SB gauge will be earned throughout the fight.

For now, approach for these fights will be in a separate Notes section after the notes for the regular Apocalypse fight. If it becomes too complex distinguishing between the two approaches for each fight, i'll separate them.

Vulnerabilities: Barthandelus: Slow, Stop, Stun. Pauldron/Ailette: Poison, Paralyze, Slow, Stop, Blind, Sleep, Sap

Notes: The fight starts with Barthandelus untargettable - you'll have to defeat the Pauldrons and Ailettes first. As the fight progresses, Barth will continue to buff them, so you'll want to defeat them as quickly as possible.

After you defeat both, Barth becomes targetable andw ill use an AoE 60s Doom on your party.
The first part of the fight is 100% magic (and Runic/GC neuters most of their attacks).

Barth has mixed AoE attacks, so you'll want both types of mitigation for him.

Special: Dispel (WHT: remove all positive status effects from all targets)

15/105 chance: Dazega (BLK: deal 270% magical non-elemental damage to all targets with a 18% chance to Sleep them)
15/105 chance: 凶 Thanatosian Laughter (NAT: deal 410% piercing magical non-elemental damage to all targets)

Notes and Strategies: Hope you like status effects, because Barthandelus likes to inflict quite a few of them. His laser attacks can either silence (21%) or blind (21%), his AoE Bioga will poison you (33%), and Dazega (18%) has a chance to sleep your entire team. You definitely want Ultra Cure and Affliction Break here to try to minimize them landing.

Most of Barth's abilities are magic-based, but his one version of laser is ranged physical, so be mindful of your back row party members.

At 80%, Barth will use Apoptosis (deals 10% current HP damage, removes all positive effects from you and all negative effects from Barth, i.e. Ultimate Dispel), followed by Shell and Protect. Thus, you may want to hold off on your haste until he uses this first Apoptosis (and you'll want a form of dispel to remove protect/shell).

At 40%, Barth will use Apoptosis again, and also gains access to Ultimate Thanatosian Laughter, which deals piercing magic damage to the entire party.

Barth can be annoying with the status effects and dispels - just be mindful of when they occur and use that to your advantage.

Cid Mission: Note that Barth takes half damage from a majority of the elements, though Cid Raines is safe here to spam his BSB commands, as is Hope. Unfortunately the physical laser attack cannot be taunted, so make sure you can mitigate it somehow.

Be mindful of Apoptosis, and if you are depending on your RW for haste, you'll want to delay your first cast until after the first Apoptosis so then you can use your 2nd cast after the 40% Apoptosis.

Lot of Stun's available to XIII's cast though. Noel and Snow are the most likely "accidental pulls" here to have such stun SB's. Check your inventory, as they are otherwise unforgettable.

15/80 chance: Plasma Beam (PHY: deal 337% ranged physical thunder damage to one target)
15/80 chance: Retaliatory Strike (NAT: deal 188% ranged physical damage four times to random targets)

Moveset (Proud Clad <40% HP:, Very Weak):
Special: Retribution Attack (NAT: deal 320% piercing ranged physical damage to all targets)
5% chance: Beam (NAT: deal 212% ranged physical damage to one target)
30% chance: Beam (NAT: deal 240% ranged physical damage to all targets)
20% chance: Beam Rain (NAT: deal 250% ranged physical damage to all targets)
30% chance: Plasma Beam (PHY: deal 450% ranged physical thunder damage to one target)
15% chance: Retaliatory Strike (NAT: deal 188% ranged physical damage four times to random targets)

    Moveset (Bit):
100% chance: Laser (NAT: deal 150% ranged physical damage to one target)

    Moveset (Bit, Limiters Deactivated):
100% chance: Laser (NAT: deal 290% ranged physical damage four times to random targets)

Notes and Strategies: In Default phase, Proud Clad uses Laser on its first two turns, its single target Beam on its 3rd turn, and Beam Rain on its 6th turn. It always follows Plasma Beam with its AOE Beam and always follows AOE Beam and Beam Rain with its single target Beam.

Proud Clad uses Retribution Attack on its 1st turn and every 5 turns thereafter in Weak phase; in Weak phase, it always follows Beam Rain or AOE Beam with Plasma Beam, always follows Plasma Beam with Retaliatory Strike, and always follows Retaliatory Strike with its single target Beam.

Proud Clad uses Retribution Attack on its 1st turn and every 4 turns thereafter in Very Weak phase; in Very Weak phase, it always follows Beam Rain and AOE Beam with Plasma Beam and always follows Retaliatory Strike with its single target Beam.

Keep in mind the medal conditions for Retribution Attack, as it only allows you to have Proud Clad use it once outside of the scripted uses before you lose 3 medals. Slow walk phase 1 and then lay into it hard with SB's in phase 2 and 3.

Jump Start Notes: Very similar to the regular Apocalypse strategy. Though this would be a good time to break out the thunder guns such as Lightning, Kain, T. G. Cid, Shantotto, Matoya, and Ashe to deal with this fight.

Properly buffed and debuffed, something such as Lightning's USB or Ashe/TG Cid OSB can take ~70% of the target's HP considering you only have 3 SB bars to play with.

Don't forget that both Cid Raines and Vanille get their Legend Spheres as well in this event:

    New Legend Materia
Vanille "Pulse Prayer" - Small increase in white magic healing
Vanille "Determined Salvation" - Medium chance to double cast white magic abilities
Cid Raines "Young Idealist" - Small increase in black magic damage
Cid Raines "Seraph's Dark Power" - Medium chance to double cast abilities that deal Dark or Holy element damage

Are those listed somewhere in event notes (Kongbakpao/Reddit) because I can't find their mention anywhere.

Is it something that would be pulled on the banners like LM, or unlocked and updated like Record Dive and MC3 access?

You can find them in the reddit Megathreads for the JP events (for some reason the GL one doesn't list them).
These are the materias unlocked through the Legend Node in Record Spheres and ,just like those at launch, each event will unlock new characters as we go forward.

    So just to clarify.

Legend Materia are pulled from the banner.

Legend Spheres are updated on a character specific basis each event and differ from Legend Materia.

How do the two interact with eachother otherwise? Asking so I can figure out how to best format it into the event thread.

I think you got this confused (Or I do)

Legend sphere is just the stats boost exemple HP +100

Legend Materia has 2 for each character on their Legend Sphere board (exemple shtola is Double whm cast + and increase healing)
And you can also get Legend Materia in gacha (specific weapons)

Simply put from now on each event will update some characters' Record Spheres with a Legend Node. This Legend Node has stat boosts and 2 Legend Materias you can obtain by unlocking everything in it with 5* motes.
There are also additional Legend Materias added as drops in the banners however these are usually "weaker" compared to those acquired in the node.
For example Lightning now has 2 LMs from her node: one boosts thunder damage and the other allows her to begin a battle with Haste+ instant cast for three turns. In addition she's getting a Dualcast materia from the upcoming relic banner.

Legend Materia relics are in the 1% pull rate range with BSBs and USB/OSBs iirc so pull carefully. If that's all you want there it's not worth it but no materia has been reissued so far in JP.

So all Legend Materia's are character exclusive, but of the 2 slots you can pick between the 3 available (2 nodes + 1 from banner) in theory.

    Is that correct?

Basically. It's like you have two slots of materia. You can pick from any of the LMs you have acquired, whether through the node or through mastery, to fill those two slots.

Have ten LMs? You can still only use two at a time.

Also the banner at the top of this thread is so appropriate.

Thats what I thought, but the graphic says they're exclusive to that character.

I'm so damn confused right now.

So Sabin can equip Cid Raines and Cloud's LM's, but Sabins nodes, Cid's nodes, and Cloud's nodes remain their own. Is that it.

    No. Sorry, let me clarify.

You are only limited by the number of LMs you acquired for that character.

They aren't exchangeable. Game would be so broken if they were.

    Okay.

So with every event you would get 1 LM on the banners for separate characters, and then along with the initial set of characters we just got every event will add a few new characters to the LM Nodes.

Potentially, if you're lucky on the banner and have motes to spend, you can unlock 3 LM's for that character and equip 2 of them. That character would only have access to their own individual LM's - either through motes or banner pulls.

haven't done any of the bonus/multiplayer stuff yet, but the full throttle was fun. went with shantotto (BSB/LCSSB) ashe (BSB/OSB) rafa (BSB) OK (BSB) ysh (SS2/BSB). you either need to put up a shitton of DPS fast, or a lot of mitigation stacking because that thing puts out insane amounts of damage.
