    Anime Recommendation Please!

So tomorrow at work I have nothing to do, and thought I could maybe start watching an anime again, used to love the stuff.

Well, I'm out of "the loop", but I'd really like something that is either slice-of-life, or "soap opera" drama-y.

A few I used to like were Tenchi Muyo, Bleach, FLCL, Paranoia Agent, Evangelion

    Thanks in advance

Try Bakemonogatari or Spice & Wolf.

Edit: On further cogitation, I would also suggest Sayonara, Zetsubou-Sensei.

Did not originally see request of 'slice-of-life' or 'drama'... definitely adjusting list...

    Nichijou
    Durarara!!
    Bakemonogatari
    Evangelion 1.0 & 2.0
    Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica
Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood (long ~60 episodes)
Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae wo Bokutachi wa Mada Shiranai

Made bold what I think you will enjoy, others could be hit or miss. Nichijou is slice of life but it's a shot in the dark since it isn't similar to anything you listed. Durarara is a mix of slice of life and drama, same with Ano Hi Mita (although more drama).

I also recently asked for recommendations, and I listed some of my all time favorites. I'll just give you that, and you can wikipedia them to get a jist for the stories. None of these are slice of life, but a couple of them are drama-y.

You've probably already heard of these, but if you liked Bleach, you might also like Naruto or One Piece (which are both better than Bleach).

    Break Blade
    Elfen Lied
FMA (two different seasons of this. They diverge at some point and both become their own awesome show that's worth watching.)
    Rurouni Kenshin
    Katanagatari
    Death Note
    Gurren Lagann
    Xam'd
    Evangelion
    Gundam Unicorn
    Casshern Sins
    Macross Frontier
    Howl's Moving Castle

Clanned is good as far as being slice of lifey and dramatic. The series than does a great job amping it up for After Story, the second season of it, definitely a good watch.

Highschool of the Dead (has a quite a bit of fan service, but still fun to watch none the less)
Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt (people either love or hate this one, hard to find an in between)
Gonna restate Gurren Lagann even though Cayos already said it.

Doesn't matter what genres you are looking for, watch YuruYuri... the fact that you are looking for slice of life helps but if you weren't I'd recommend it anyway.

Check out the film "The Girl Who Leapt Through Time". It won a ton of rewards.

If you like K-drama, there is the Winter Sonata anime to scratch both your K-drama and anime itches, and if nothing else it ought to fit your soap-opera drama fix.

I'm surprised this slipped through the slice-of-life recommendations:

    Check out...
    Elfen Lied
Heroic Age (got me a bro-hug from a friend after he watched it when I recommended this to him)

Slice of life would be something like Magipokaan or Azumanga Daioh.

Haven't watched the anime version but, seriously, screw that manga. It was very well done but it was also 99.9% depressing with the 0.1% being silver lining that set you up for a giant depression bomb.

Code Geass was really good but has it's downer moments too.

I don't think the entirety of S2 could be described as just "moments" >_>

Honestly, besides the ending and a few moments, I don't think Code Geass was that great. The first season didn't even grab my attention till Lelouch
    Spoiler: show
accidentally used Geass on his sister,
and that wasn't till episode 16-17 I think. I'd say it's definitely worth watching once, though.

Hijacking this/steering it in the direction for other people that are looking to expand their library and watch some new shit.

Seen and why I liked it:
Yu Yu Hakusho - Fighting is cool, I was a badass like Yusuke was and thought he was cool when I was younger. Good story.
Death Note - Reminds me of Dexter, like clever/witty things.
    Cowboy Bebop - Cowboy Bebop-y.
Highschool of the Dead - Profanity. Story was good too, animated well.
Trigun - Idk, liked his whole misunderstood persona.
Naruto - Why can't this end already.
Bleach - Why can't this end already.
FMA - Awesome story. Love Vic Mignogna.
Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya - Idk what the fuck happened in this show but I watched it. I like Japan so maybe this is why.
Few eps of Gurren Lagann but wasn't interested or wasn't giving it enough attention. Robots and that shit from what I saw = zzzzz
Mission Hill - Old one, got cut short. City living<3
Air - So underrated. This show is fucking beautiful aesthetically, the story is incredibly, and dear god that opening song. I love this one. (Thanks, SephYuyX)

I'm all over the place. Good story, good animation, profanity, whatever. I'll give it a shot. Profanity makes me feel slightly less gay watching it. Nothing irks me more when someone kills the heroes best friend and all he says is "you stupid jerk". Highschool of the dead had me giddy with the very fitting profanity (gas station scene namely).

Throw some shit at me, gimme a short description if you wanna. Find me something good BG, preferably available on Netflix.

Edit: Preferably in English. My attention span is shot these days.

    @Savior:

I don't have Netflix so I don't know what Anime selections they have.

    I recommend:
Finish Gurren Lagann. It's worth it.
Stop watching Bleach and pick up One Piece.
Code Geass (you didn't list it but it is pretty popular)
    Bakemonogatari
    Monster
    Gintama

A lot of different stuff in that list. I'm sure one of those will pique your interest.

If you need a synopsis for Anime try AnimeNewsNetwork, Anime-Planet, or MyAnimeList.

If you want reviews on Anime look up Anime-Planet and maybe MyAnimeList has some. I've never used MAL so I don't know.

And if you don't like any of the recommendations I provided above, try School Days.
