Returning to WoW; Trouble with Merger into Battle.net

So.. I quit sometime in 2008 around august.
Recently I've wanted to get back into the game, so I install the game, update, etc.
My only hickup is that when i log into my account it says "Lolz, you need to merge"
so i click the link, and it's already merged or something.

My question is, is there a way to find out what account it's merged under (just incase I forgot the email it was logged into)? Or should I just assumed it's been compromised and contact blizzard?

restarting is out of the question, too much effort spent into my characters :S

Assume it's been compromised, you need to create your own battle.net account to merge, so if you don't remember doing that you need to call Blizzard and check what's going on I would think. I don't think the merge was even an option in 2008? Not sure.

are you putting in your b.net account or your wow account in the wow title screen?

Yeah the thing is, I have a b.net account.
But when i try to log on my main account, my wow account, it says it needs to be linked/merged with a b.net account.
I go to merge it, it says it's already been merged.
I've checked on my characters, they haven't been touched level wise or eq. wise. So I'm wondering if it's merged with another b.net account that i have simply forgotten.. they don't have a "forgot battle.net account email?" option

Edit: Suposedly they made every account merge into a battle.net account November 11, 2009.

Remember, after you merge accounts, your WoW username is now your battlenet E-mail address... make sure you're entering that as the username and not your old account username.

My friend had the same issue when he didn't merge his account. Someone hacked his account, and merged it. He was locked out and had to contact blizzard to get it back.

Yeah, I know. I just don't know the username it's merged under.. should i contact blizzard to find it? or is there another way to find out without having to wait weeks for them to prove it's mine?

Whatever your battle.net account name is, is what you need to use to log in.

This would be the e-mail address you created your battle.net account with.

He doesn't remember the email address he created the b.net account with.

Your best bet is probably to just contact Blizzard support. I'm sure they'll be able to help you pretty quickly.

Just a little update:
Got a reply from blizzard asking for my Photo ID and to fill out a form to have it changed over. Haha.

Think everything is good and this can be closed or something now!

Update: Turns out my account was hacked sometime between when I quit and when i tried to get it back.
A gold farmer or something was using my account to farm saronite in Sholozar Basin.
Luckily, he left about 30 stacks of it in my bags and I returned to the game with a little bit of change to start with. lolz.
