I did a search, which turned up no previous threads, but this is a show from the 90s, starring Sean Bean. I've been watching it off and on for a while. The effects are.. well.. dated... but the rest is good stuff.

It's based on the novels by Bernard Cornwell. They're historical fiction, meaning the characters are mostly fake, but the setting they're in is mostly real. They're very good, as is the show. Thought you folks might like to check it out.

I haven't finished the series yet, but unless they make a radical departure from the books (they haven't yet) it's true.

I watched a couple of episodes in the 90's when they aired the first time, I'm not really into the genre though. I think it's the one show where Sean Bean won't die lol.
